Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has announced the launch of its latest evolution of the Transporter Chassis Cab, based on the Transporter T6 that was revealed in April 2015. Yes, it’s a Transporter pick-up truck.
Available as a single-cab or double-cab, the new Transporter Chassis Cab can carry up to six passengers in double-cab form and offers a payload capacity of up to 1,339 kg in single cab spec. The factory specification drop-side bodies offer load space of either 5.2 square metres in single cab form or 4.2 square metres in double cab arrangement.
The latest Transporter Chassis Cab has been developed to complement the range of Volkswagen Crafter chassis and drop-side derivatives that are available through Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ ‘Engineered to Go’ programme.
The Transporter truck comes with all of the design and engineering features, along with new assistance, safety, convenience and comfort systems available across the T6 range, VW says. It also benefits from VW’s BlueMotion Technology with low rolling resistance tyres, regenerative braking and auto start-stop systems. Powered by the 140 PS 2.0 TDI engine, one can choose from a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG auto.
Standard features include DAB+ digital radio, five-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth and USB connection; plus Automatic Post-Collision Braking system, which automatically applies the brakes after a collision, reducing the risk or severity of a secondary impact.
