A collaboration between the German automaker and the American audio specialist BeatsAudio, has resulted in two vehicles fitted with a new premium audio system. The facelifted Volkswagen up! and Polo are recipients of the new sound system, targeted at the young, social media generation. The pair will be on display at the Geneva motor show, next week.
The system comprises of seven high-end loudspeakers, two tweeters in the A-pillars, two-woofers in the front, two broadband loudspeakers in the rear and a subwoofer integrated in the spare wheel well. In addition, a 300-watt, eight-channel amplifier and a digital signal processor is fitted as well.
To distinguish themselves among the rest, the models get additional external features. In the up!, items include special beats design decals, contrast colour door mirror caps and 15-inch “Radial” alloy rims. Inside, it receives a specially-designed dashpad, multifunction steering wheel, a special door sill plate and colour-coordinated seat belts.
As for the Polo, it will come with a gloss black radiator grille, coloured door mirrors and new 16-inch “Syenit” alloy wheels. Interior-wise, it’ll feature special “beats” design seats and door trim panels. This, along with a leather steering wheel and coloured seat belts.
“Hardly any other brand name stands for the attitude to life of generation Facebook like ‘Beats’. The strong brand image of ‘Beats’ helps us to address a younger target group. In addition, the new up! stands for modern mobility and entertainment,” said Jürgen Stackmann, member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Passenger Cars responsible for Sales, Marketing and After Sales.
