This Bug loves jeans. The 2016 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible 1.8T Denim limited edition has been announced for the USA. Paying homage to the 1970s Jeans Bug, this new special Bug is described as a value model in the Convertible lineup at US$25,995 (RM106,731).
Limited to just 2,000 units, the 2016 Beetle Denim is powered by a turbocharged 1.8 litre TSI petrol engine with 170 hp and 250 Nm, paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The limited edition Bug is offered in two exterior colour options – Pure White or Stonewashed Blue as seen here – and the production run will be split equally between the two colours. The fabric top has been finished in Dark Blue with a brand new textured fabric that resembles denim. Opt for shiny 17-inch Heritage Graphite wheels for the full retro effect.
More denim inside, with a unique light-blue-and-silver dashpad and jeans-inspired seat pockets with Levi’s red tab-style small Beetle flags in red. The light blue denim-colour cloth seat surfaces also feature white piping and dark blue leatherette accents.
Standard kit includes the Volkswagen MIB II infotainment system, which has a 5.0-inch resistive touchscreen display, AUX-in, SD card slots, USB, iPhone and iPod connectivity, rearview camera display and Bluetooth. Also in are heated front sport seats and customisable interior ambient lighting.
Prefer a more rugged look? The Beetle Dune that was revealed in November is a cool option.
