GIIAS 2017: Honda Brio RS CVT Special Edition debuts

Honda had the Brio RS CVT Special Edition on show at the 2017 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), and if the car looks familiar, it is – the regular RS CVT was a debutant at last year’s Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) as part of the Brio facelift premiere.

This one adds on a few items on top of the regular RS CVT to go the SE route. New items are a body-coloured front lower garnish (unpainted on the standard RS) to match the Phoenix Orange Pearl exterior shade, a new rear lower garnish and sporty two-tone upholstery.

Otherwise, it’s pretty much the same thing. The RS comes equipped with 15-inch dual-tone wheels and 185/55 profile tyres, side skirts, projector headlamps with LED guide lights, power retractable wing mirrors with LED signals and a rear glass garnish.

The Brio RS CVT Special Edition is powered by a 1.2 litre four-cylinder engine offering 90 PS at 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm at 4,800 rpm. The Euro 4 SOHC i-VTEC motor is paired to an Earth Dreams Technology CVT.

The Brio RS CVT Special Edition is priced from 182 million rupiah (RM58,500), which is four million rupiah more than the Brio RS CVT.

This car is literally everywhere back when I was in the state capital, and I did manage to get into one of these as my uber ride. Despite the flimsy interior plastic and the super-hard ride, the driver said that fuel consumption is good in the city traffic and the power is ample. Oh, and I am almost 6 ft so my head and neck were barely touching the rear seat head restraint. Okay for kids, unsafe for tall adults.
