Ford Ranger Raptor on preview, to be shown at KLIMS

Previewed alongside eight of its newly-launched pick-up counterparts is the top-of-the-line Ford Ranger Raptor. This marks the high-performance pick-up truck’s maiden appearance in Malaysia following its global reveal in Bangkok earlier in February.

No price has been revealed yet, but the estimated price for the Raptor (CBU Thailand) is said to be around RM200k. It’s not officially launched yet, instead it will make its big debut at the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS 2018) next month.

In terms of features and equipment, expect it to be similarly specced, if not identical to models sold in Thailand and Australia. The kit list includes ESC, hill start assist, hill descent control, load adaptive control and active lane keeping assist.

Performance-wise, it gets the same 2.0 litre bi-turbo engine as the Wildtrak 4×4 which was just launched, so the pair is the closest in terms of outright performance. The four-cylinder diesel mill makes 213 PS and 500 Nm of torque, and power is put down to the ground via a new 10-speed automatic transmission with downshift rev matching. The torque converter transmission first made its debut in the Ford F-150.

Interested? Well, Sime Darby Auto Connexion is offering customers the opportunity to win a brand new Ford Ranger Raptor when purchasing any new Ranger variant. The first 888 customers who register their new Ford Ranger will each receive an electrical goods voucher worth RM1,000.

If the Raptor is still your pick of the lot, then find out how it performs on the challenging terrain of the Australian Outback, here. Thoughts, guys?

How to buy a truck costing RM200k? Something must be wrong with the ringgit. The ringgit has dropped so much the past 20 years due to corruption that everything now seems to be so expensive.

Thinking of getting a good handling truck to meet the rising road rages in Malaysia. The change in government have brought zero changes to the policing of our roads. Seem to be more hell drivers and no license drivers on the road.
