MINI 60 Years Edition launched in Malaysia – RM256k

MINI Malaysia has officially introduced the MINI 60 Years Edition, the car making its debut here in a single variant guise, a Cooper S 3 Door Hatch. Only 60 units of the limited-edition collector’s model, built to commemorate the brand’s 60 years in existence, will be available for the Malaysian market.

The car is available in two exterior colours, the first being a new British Racing Green specifically recreated for the edition, complete with a Pepper White roof and mirror caps. Alternatively, there’s also a Melting Silver shade, which is paired with a Jet Black roof and mirror caps.

Unique identifiers come in the form of anniversary-specific black bonnet stripes with Aspen White and British Oak pinstripes as well as 60 years badging on the side scuttle. The play-up continues with a floor projection of the 60 years logo from the side mirror.

The car is specified with a 60 Years Chili equipment pack, and kit in it includes LED headlights, LED fog lamps, white turn indicators and LED rear lights in the Union Jack design. It also rides on exclusive 17-inch 60 Years Spoke two-tone alloy wheels.

Inside, the 60 Years Edition is dressed in MINI Yours leather lounge upholstery in Dark Maroon with green contrast stitching. Again, no shortage of ’60 Years’ reminders in the cabin, with the insignia to be found on the corners of the seats, side sills and on the lower spoke of the MINI Yours Walknappa leather sport steering wheel.

Standard interior bits include a 6.5-inch touchscreen central display, automatic climate control, velour floor mats, Apple CarPlay connectivity, a rear-view camera and a MINI Excitement Package offering ambient lighting adjustment with a choice of 12 colours. Other regulation items include Comfort Access, front/rear Park Distance Control, cruise control with braking function and Performance Control.

No change to the familiar Cooper S drivetrain, which is a BMW 2.0 litre four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine offering 192 hp and 280 Nm. Paired with a seven-speed DCT Steptronic sports transmission, performance figures include a 0-100 km/h time of 6.7 seconds and a 235 km/h top speed.

The MINI 60 Years Edition Cooper S 3 Door is priced at RM255,888 (RM6,000 more than the standard Cooper S 3 Door), on-the-road without insurance, and in celebration of the brand’s 60th anniversary, owners who purchase the edition from now to August 31 will enjoy coverage under the 60 Months MINI Service + Repair Inclusive programme.

This will provides owners with 60 months or 80,000 km (whichever comes first) of free scheduled service and 60 months of unlimited mileage warranty. If you purchase the edition after August 31, the car will be covered by a four-year unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service.

Meanwhile this MINI has no relations to the first MINI except for their names only.

Mini is a pretty good car, esp. appealing to (rich) hipsters. For me, with Rm250K in hand, I could surely find a better car (be it brand new or used car) compared to this Mini.
