Perodua held a media test drive for the new Perodua D46T MPV this morning somewhere in Putrajaya. I’ve tried it out and will share my findings with you after the MPV’s launch (due to embargo reasons), which is expected to be on the 23rd of November 2009. Showrooms will officially start taking bookings earlier, from the 13th of November 2009 onwards. Stay tuned for an update on the new Perodua D46T MPV on the 23rd of November 2009 at 5.00pm sharp.

hopefully it will fulfil the needs of another segment of the market i.e. mini-MPV… and is not a direct competitor to the Exora.
personally, I do feel Exora is one of Proton better efforts in recent years… credit to those working hard on it…
In any case, I welcome the Perodua D46T to give the people the choice to suit their needs and budgets (our obscene taxes&duties notwithstanding…)

Nice… Suppose to look good like the T and D model. Nice touch-up for P2 version. Ride and comfort as good as the T and D model since only minor overall look has been done for this model

Like any other perodua, i can already expect it to be plasticy and cheap looking. But then again, if they can sell at the price they said they can, it would likely be a hit. Much like the Myvi before it. It would most like give the Myvi its run for the money. I would expect some canabilizing there.
Proton's exora probably is the better design, except with the wrong engine and the Rondo with most things correct except with the wrong 2nd row seats.

Hampeh…apasal P2 tak buat yang macam JDM Passo Sette, ni ubahsuai yang banyak. Gear pun pakai tang biasa,JDM spec punya gear jenis gated….enjin sama dgn VIOS+RUSH+AVANZA.

I've saw the leaked pic with the details of the car exterior and front dash board. Front and dashboard is nice, but the butt a bit boxy which doesn't really match the body……premium version with spoiler make the but look better.

I dunno why but somehow I do feel P2 use better plastic than p1 in interior.. That led me to buy myvi when I was in the market.. Well its not the best car but it fits my requirement well.
Maybe to early but I expect this mpv will be nicer to be in (not to drive) compare to exora.. but this is subjective of coz….
Put the sentiment away but I do think p2 interior is okay considering the price range…P1 needs a lot of of catching up to do even to reach p2 interior level..
Gud luck to p2 on the sale and lets welcome another new comer in the market.. to be praised or to be bashed … lets see..

Go ahead with this Perodua Alza. It's going to be far better than Persona. Bet you won't regret later. I'm truly satisfied with my Myvi (except on it's common front disc brake problem), and hope this model will succeed with much greater improvement than Myvi. By looking at it's siblings Daihatsu Boon Luminas and Toyota Passo Sette quality rating, I guess that this car is a better buy. Good luck P2!

hi….quite busy lately. anyway crdt to p2 to their newly launch p2 wagon. em, NAP benefit to proton only littlefire??? :-), ha…ha…all assume as natinal car makers are under n.a.p including p2, naza, inikom. so dont just point ur finger at p1 only. but the delayed of ap abolishment didnt profit p1 at all and of course little fire know which co. that will benefit of it…ha…ha…
org malaysia kata, diam2 ubi, berisi, betul tak little fire :-). and for all that like to test p1 car example scracthing the body, dashboard with coins, close the door and bonnet as hard as they can, play with the glovebox, aircond vents, knocking the body of the car, peek under the car, so please do ur thing to check this wagon scratch-prove or bullet proof or whatever.
remember to fit all 7 adults in the wagon and drove it up on hill and try to imagine how "comfortable" u r when all 7 adults go to long journey with the most powerful power to weight ratio wagon :-). and remember to turn on the aircond to full blast when testing since u already know the aircond is really cool so that u need to use full blast to feel it.
remember to check it kerb weight to calculate power to weight ratio, and i believe, it will be powerful…

1. Alza LOW-LINE is expensive than Persona HIGH-LINE/SE but equipped tin-milo body, sluggish handling, no brake disk at rear wheel, no cruise control, no gps, not without solid impact reinforcement, no abs and 2nd airbag, no leather seat etc…maybe with title as MPV, P2 can put price as much as they like
2. Alza? what a name? Japanese? Malay? Chinese? …syok sendiri ka
3. I have tried once, the engine screaming like hell, so thats why la, you can see lot of sound insulator inside the car.
Unfortunately this car will sell well because Malaysia easily blinded with J-brand and surely Ops Sikap next year will score higher death tolls since this car kill 7 person at one time…

Syabas P2…..At last i believe that this is what the most malaysians are waiting for….Quality? if we look back, P2 do CE from T n D, it should be no problem with that…see for the past model….kancil still can sold even viva already otr..Viva price almost same with new saga but we still can see a lot of Viva on the road…..Myvi wagon? of course….see the Jap version…it call T passo sette..extended from passo or D boon luminas from boon..It should be ok if some one want to call it Myvi wagon…but the real name is Alza(guess)….engine already full prove(avanza, vios, rush, nautica) pwr a bit more than livina but torque a bit lower than livina….size like kimi said….w and h almost livina but a bit short….rear aircond…citra and livina also don't have…still OK what…only thing that need improvement is gear console(down grade from Jap version), notice that 2nd row no center head rest like Jap version and rear side…..but I believe this can be 'touch up' with skirt+spoiler or may be P2 can come out with SE version…if Myvi can 'kongker' malaysian market in car segment..with the price from 56k to 66k i believe this P2 MPV can 'kongker' malaysian market in MPV segment too…..otherwise all look nice….Just wait and see impact to the Malaysia car market.

EXTERIOR
It retains 80% of Myvi's DNA, front & rear. Sharper projector type headlights. (Only Nautica has projector headlights). The gap between tyres & wheel arches are too wide, not nice. Overall looks bland and boring.
INTERIOR
the Base-Line model also has integrated Audio DIN unit (amber color for BL & blue for HL) with chrome volume knob. That's nice, looks upmarket.
But the aircon dials and gear level looks very cheap.
Just by the look of it, i am not interested at all. But if one only think to move from point A to B, then it will be just okay…but pity Malaysians. From looking at the leaked picture the interior amaze me! But not too sure about the material, but more or less will be 1 notch lower or on par with cheapest from toyota. Not a big fan of the exterior, and really not a big fan of the price. However the front fascia will be a big hit esp amoung the makciks and aunties.

Those buying this car may not really looking for a 7 seater. This group of customer will be those looking for new cheap sedan car but not happy with P1 quality. Market share will be taken from Myvi, Saga & Persona.
If those really looking for 7 seater (less then RM80K), I think Exora or Naza might be better choice. The last row is really too small, just image if accident happen, what happen to the 2 person at the last row. I will not put my kids there! I do not think this will have much impact on Exora market share.
Let's wait or the car and test it. Hope the handling is improved.

Anyway some of his/her comments is right. I have a kancil and savvy. I bought both brand laa.. I found that p2 cars doesnt suit Malaysia climate, esp if you guys notice the headlamp will become yellowish and dull after a few months but not my savvy. I guess bcoz p2 carry 99% of jap spec. I hope p2 will do something about weathering parts and also A/C laa… or at least if p2 cannot provide rear A/C they can include V-kool package to cool down people inside their new cart…

Proton should do extended Saga or Saga MPV wagon to compete with this Perodua MPV.
Would suggest the name as: Proton Saga Panjang. For export market Australia, NZ, UK the name shall be Proton Hurst Wagon. For Thai, Indon market it's called Proton Kerenda MPV. China market it shall be Youngman HurseWagon4.

This car price can't be more than 63k, otherwise many car buyer will rather consider to buy a 2nd hand vios than this car. Simply because of the value of the car it self.

Malaysia cars are way too overpriced, i think everyone agrees on that.I read from somewhere 80% of Malaysians earn less than rm3k a month.So, they even struggling to loan a city or vios if u take into account they have family/partner commitment. Not everyone is fortunate to born with a silver spoon. So, do not label others as stupid if they choose to buy P1 or P2 cars. You should blame the policy, the NAPS, and not the poor, ordinary citizens like us for choosing P1 & P2..because we do not have much choice
So much been mentioned in the discussion. I used both proton and perodua brand until now. Of course the cars have their strengths and weaknesses. I bought the cars because I need a ride, that is. So if Malaysian cars don't have all the safety features, just let it be. Just drive on. I found that I can speed up to 190kmh (V6) and 120kmh (Kancil 850). So why worry about safety gadgets?? you control your vehicle.
I'm proud we have proton and perodua, at least poor people like me can afford to buy cars where at the yesteryears, it is only a dream for me to own a car ( don't talk about owning four cars at one time la). Congrats to govt (maybe, the rich wannabe to like it). If you can afford imported cars, go it, let poor people like use national products. Don't condemn. If I can afford, I would like to own Volk Passat ( Which I can afford, actually) but then again it is up to us.
To proton and perodua cars owner, don't fight. Let us work together to support our automotive industry. We choose the vehicles according to our budget, preference and interest. So, why hate each other, just drive on….SEE YOU ALL ON THE ROAD…All the best my to beloved Malaysia

I wanna add fuel to the fire though.. :D I wanna share a true story here. My car (Waja CPS) was rear-ended by a MyVi last week. My car sustained damages only to the rear bumper. The Myvi on the other hand, front bumper broke, radiator burst, main brake pump burst, front bonnet bended (berlipat). The puny bar at the front, look like a boomerang. The accident happen at a relatively low speed. The biggest surprise was… that front bumper will set the owner back RM1000!!! Imagine my surprise when I asked EON quotation for my rear bumper… RM1++ only(minus paint job)…. a full 10 times less than MyVi!!!!! WTF???? So I beg the question.. why the price difference? And who is the tin milo here???
Same goes to fuel consumption, my car will ran about 450 km per full tank, my cousin MyVi will be lucky to reached 300km per full tank… and she drives slow too!!! I was gob smacked when she told me about her fuel consumption.
So.. who says P2 has better quality??? Oh btw, I saw in today news, an Iswara broke into 2 after hitting a tree… I just have to laugh at the report when the driver says he lost control… you don't lose control and break your car in 2 if you are driving slowly. Typical Malaysian driver attitude… the road is a race track mentality. If given the T90 MBT also they will wreck it on the road. LOL

do u think our MyVi has the same quality to that of the Passo??
if u read in the website, the equipment list is impressive:
Front seatbelt pretensioners
Front seatbelt load limiters
Driver frontal airbag
Front passenger frontal airbag
Side body airbags
ISOfix front
ISOfix rear
only the top of the range MyVi comes with driver and passenger frontal airbag, without all the other equipments..this is what we can see..wat about the metal used?i doubt that the MyVi, and hence, this MPV, has the GOA standard compared to their counterparts from Japan.
If u are thinking whether i had driven a MyVi or not, yes i had, for 2 months. and i can tell u, the handling is really really bad…u dun feel confident behind the wheel, if u get wat i mean..I am now driving a Gen2, and i can tell u, the handling is superb!
anyway, despite all these "incompetents", i know that this MPV will be "Top MPV Sale". It might be sad in terms of safety, but it is good in terms of practicality and price, in which are the main factors for most Malaysians.
Anyone that stay in JB or S'pore can test drive D Boon Luminas in S'pore if want to compare the siblings in Malaysia. I have test drive 1 of it when i free yesterday (have thing to do in S'pore yesterday morning). If the price that they selling RM65k with include all Jap spec so i can say it's cheap but if not seriously said Malaysian been day light robbing by this price. By handling as same as Myvi (sampan control). Yet the back seat for city driving its ok but for long distance "kebas bontot". The D salesman also said just nice for pick up your kids from school & go market. He even said that P2 quality are not same as they have all coz of to cut cost to built the car to get high margin…. He even said that Malaysian "tak kisah" about the safety even they know that the downgrade car….

For your kind info, thats the Japan version of the crash test. Perodua's cars dont go through crash test's because there's no regulation in Malaysia to do so. Doesn't mean that Japanese version gets a 5star, the perodua version gets a 5star too…if its the same, u wont be seeing Myvi's turtling for no apparent reasons. Just to prove my point, get a Viva, open up its door trim…have a look inside. U will find this:
1) Door stiffner (only at front)
2) Damping sheet
3) Belt line reinf outer
In order to pass the side impact or door intrusion crash test, u need:
1) Door Impact Beam
2) Belt line reinf inner
If u dont have these, in an event of side crash, there WILL BE MASSIVE INJURIES to the H-point (hip point) and S-point(shoulder point). This is only the door, i havent gone through the front impact yet…dont wanna scare all the Viva n Myvi drivers out there…..hehehehe
For your kind info also, the savvy scored and all around crash rating of EQUIVALENT to 3 star Euro NCAP….as usual this was done in Idiada. For ur satisfaction u can open up a savvy door and look for urself!

remember the persona meter cluster with 2 fuel tank gauge instead of 1 temp and 1 fuel tank? someone snapped a picture of it and spread it all over the net. it was damaging to proton as that was a time where they were trying to convince the public that their new products are different from the old.

as we know, aircond problem is quite infamous for p2 cars.. so witj only 1 aircond and got problem aircond.. this must be terrible for ah soos (p2 wagon potential buyers)

What i can say is…both have their own advantages and disadvantages… Both products have their own pros and cons…
What i am hoping is, both national car company should help each other like what the japanese did…
Do you even know that Mitsubishi and Nissan sharing their technology with each other. This was started when MMC facing financial crisis in 2002 (if i am not mistaken) and Nissan was offering them technological support

Bro. peyno, aku nak stress kat sini satu perkara, kenapa large number of malaysians (esp middle class mcm aku) go for perodua rather than other brand. 1) Harga kereta import yang tidak munasabah sbb ridiculous taxation + high insurance & road tax ransom. (bayangkan sbuah honda city 1.5 atau toyota vios 1.5 will cost you up to rm 90k.) 2) kalu nak beli proton, org yg mcm aku dah serik. Management proton dulu buat palat kat golongan sederhana mcm aku.Proton waja aku dulu telah mnyebabkn aku langsung hilang confident dgn proton. Drpd nak jimat aku telah byk membazir utk tanggung keta yang sgt problematic. (Masalah die bukan setakat minor prob. tp related to powertrain. 3) Kalu nak beli 2ndhand imported brand, x berani sbb xde warranty + interest bank tinggi. At the end the only choice yang bolehler adalah perodua. At least JD Auto pacific rate Myvi sbg the least problematic national car (refer to bernama 21 0ct). Walau apapun ngko kate pasal perodua mpv yang BELUM lagi keluar ni aku xpeduli. Myvi aku telah membuktikan kpd aku yang ia mmg sebuah kereta yg reliable. So far aku xberdepan masalah langsung dgn myvi aku selama 4 tahun of ownership. Aku tak nafikan yg handling wise mmg jauh nak banding dgn waja aku dulu. Tp hati aku senang xsusah nak maintain sebuah kereta yg hanya untuk membawa aku dari A ke B dgn selamat.
Aku tak faham kenapa org mcm ngko peyno, antiperodua, myvikiller dll benci sgt kat perodua. Kalu rakyat malaysia beli perodua itu pasti ada 1001 reasons. Dulu aku pakai waja mitsu, tukar belt die je dok cecah rm 300 onward. Minor service labih kurang rm200, major cecah rm400-rm500. Sejak pakai myvi aku just tukar lubricants dan minor parts je. Sekali service kat perodua baru lingkungan rm 100-150. Major pulak habis tinggi pun rm300k. Timing belt takyah susah hati sbb die pakai chain tech. Cuba ngko kaji betul2 kenapa org mcm aku resorted for perodua. Bile dah beli perodua, jumpa pulak org yg bingai mcm nkgo dlm paultan ni. mcmane aku xnyampah.

For your kind info, thats the Japan version of the crash test. Perodua’s cars dont go through crash test’s because there’s no regulation in Malaysia to do so. Doesn’t mean that Japanese version gets a 5star, the perodua version gets a 5star too…if its the same, u wont be seeing Myvi’s turtling for no apparent reasons. Just to prove my point, get a Viva, open up its door trim…have a look inside. U will find this:
1) Door stiffner (only at front)
2) Damping sheet
3) Belt line reinf outer
In order to pass the side impact or door intrusion crash test, u need:
1) Door Impact Beam
2) Belt line reinf inner
If u dont have these, in an event of side crash, there WILL BE MASSIVE INJURIES to the H-point (hip point) and S-point(shoulder point). This is only the door, i havent gone through the front impact yet…dont wanna scare all the Viva n Myvi drivers out there…..hehehehe
For your kind info also, the savvy scored and all around crash rating of EQUIVALENT to 3 star Euro NCAP….as usual this was done in Idiada. For ur satisfaction u can open up a savvy door and look for urself!

Last time i've open Savvy's front grill to do some wiring for the headlamp. I'm surprise that there is solid thick (about 4 inch thick) Polystrene at the back of the front bumper. Maybe its there to soften the impact of crash from the front. I've check my dad Toyota Unser, Wira and Iswara and there is no such thing as this.

But if you have friends in any malaysia auto magazine, just ask them personally their feeling about this car. all of them already have their test drive session last week. The only thing (including paul) keep silent about this mpv is their high ethical standard. I did ask one of my favourite buddy (who also joint the test drive). the only thing he comment " another hit model, just like Myvi"…..nothing in detail, but can't wait for 23/11 to know more…
btw, another info that I get regarding this mpv aircond performance. the cooling performance of air cond is better than honda stream, nissan livina, toyota wish and guess what, toyota avanza (but not exora). I wonder why avanza double blower unit cannot win againts single unit in this mpv, maybe something to do with new p2 mpv advance component (blower motor speed, advance compressor, bigger evaporator etc). anyway need to check it during public test drive than can know how true is the statement.

For your info, if you do a little bit of research, the new P2 MPV has one of the longest wheelbase in the market (although it has quite a short overall length).
At 2750 mm, it is longer than exora, avanza, livina and rondo; as long as innova and wish. This may translate into a good interior length inside P2 MPV…..we will have to check it out on launch day to know the truth.

Proton should do extended Saga or Saga MPV wagon to compete with this Perodua MPV.
Would suggest the name as: Proton Saga Panjang. For export market Australia, NZ, UK the name shall be Proton Hurst Wagon. For Thai, Indon market it’s called Proton Kerenda MPV. China market it shall be Youngman HurseWagon4.

1st of all, I'm no fan of either proton or perodua. Have anyone of you actually tested this car(and air-cond) before giving such harsh comment on this car and also to the users of this brand. I'm with you peYno, when u say there are lots of Japanese wanna-be on the streets (who put toyota badge and mitsu badge on their local makes), but that doesn't make all who own the local brand all Japanese wanna-be. There are genuine people out there who doesn't earn enough to buy the toyotas, hondas or nissan. They don't have a choice. If you should want to blame, it should be the gov for putting such high taxes on imported brands, not the people.
And please don't compare this car with Lavina, Stream, Wish, Exora or even Avanza for that matter because they are now in the same price range. It's not a fair comparison at all.

In sedan, longer wheelbase will usually result in longer interior length (except nissan which has done some magical design on their latio: where relatively short wheelbase can give best in class interior length for latio). In MPV, i guess the overall length in addition to the wheelbase will determine the interior length.
What is interesting about this P2 MPV is it is suppose to have a slide-able 2nd row seat (15cm) in its japanese version, if it is pass down to P2, then it will give P2 mpv a very flexible 2nd and 3rd row seating positions.

From exora manual book it is stated the L-line (low line) with steel rims and curb weight og 1420kg. So the new variant will be L-line manual, not B-line.
I'll only change my view on P2 once they start designing their own car. Not downgrading & rebadging Daihatsu/Toyota car. Not limited to bumpers & fog lamps only.
I bought P2 Viva, and it was the biggest mistake. A car accidently reversed and hit my car (Viva) near the rear door area. The door was terribly dented although it was only an accident at a parking lot. the car that hit me was a naza bestari (only the bumper got some damage)
I have to agree with Si-Fu, the door has no safety features..eg. impact beam etc. I've seen it, and experienced it.
my uncle's PROTON might have some issue with the power window (old waja) but certainly not on the Safety Side. Not comparable to the Viva :(
Nowadays drivers are totaly crazy, even if we drive slow, others will hit you. So safety must come first. But from what I've experienced, P2 cars is way too dangerous for Malaysian Roads (especially during high speed @ highways)

1st of all, I’m no fan of either proton or perodua. Have anyone of you actually tested this car(and air-cond) before giving such harsh comment on this car and also to the users of this brand. I’m with you peYno, when u say there are lots of Japanese wanna-be on the streets (who put toyota badge and mitsu badge on their local makes), but that doesn’t make all who own the local brand all Japanese wanna-be. There are genuine people out there who doesn’t earn enough to buy the toyotas, hondas or nissan. They don’t have a choice. If you should want to blame, it should be the gov for putting such high taxes on imported brands, not the people.
And please don’t compare this car with Lavina, Stream, Wish, Exora or even Avanza for that matter because they are now in the same price range. It’s not a fair comparison at all.

mpv stands for multi purpose vehicle. a vehicle must be big enough to be considered as mpv. for instances, exora, estima and alphard. dont u think this mpv or can we call it a wagon has the same level as exora? not at all! go to market to buy fishes can la… but for a long journey with 7 passengers, it just doesn't suit at all…

I am truly baffled.. what has one's car has anything to do with expressing an opinion/fact? Not backing peYno but he/she has the right to say what is on his/her mind regardless if you agree or disagree with him/her. Are you guys suggesting that what car others drive determine the merit of their arguments? In that case, people driving old car can't comment on new car?
As someone says in an earlier post, this is an automotive blog, which PT has taken pain to run, where people who have interest in automotive news, updates and so on come and share their thoughts and opinions. Yes, we do come across some people that post rubbish or slander which is best ignore. What is important here, respect each other, respect people opinion and, in this case, car selection. According to Perodua MD, P2 MPV's weight is 1050kg COMPARE to Avanza 1.5 which is 1120kg, so obviously P2 MPV is lighter than Avanza. With similar engine (will have to wait for the launch as the engine code for the jap version and avanza are slightly different), it will give P2 MPV one of the best weight to power ratio.
A slideable 2nd row is always better than some MPV which has only fixed 2nd row.
We should wait until launch date to see ourself whether P2 MPV is a creditable car or not; and not shouting angrily and cursing p2 MPV baselessly like some twisted mind here.
Oishi… if I'm not mistaken, peYno did mentioned he/she used to stay in Japan (post dated November 7, 2009 @ 8:17 am), so maybe he/she did really drove the Passo Sette JDM. On what basis do are you calling peYno a liar? Please do explain…

i'm a proud owner of 2005 Perodua Myvi 1.3SXi.
Well my current ride is Proton Wira 1.3 A/B….spacious enough for me, just like Myvi…but I don't like Myvi since it has no boot. Its my personal needs since I use my car for long distant travelling from Segamat to Taiping. Perhaps other people who live and work in the same city would have different opinion on Myvi.
Eventhough the embargo, but the actual picture has been in Internet. But to put a solid reason, I must see it myself. For me the stronger point of P2 is the reliability of its engine and gearbox. People don't expect to go to service center for their new ride with some hangky pangky problem. This one, Proton need to learn from P2.
So good luck to P2 and oh 1 thing, after several years on the roads, any plastic headlamp will turn yellowish and on this matter Wira win since it use glass headlamp. No need to apply some polish liquid.

my brothers in law grand livina 1.8, avanza 1.3 m, avanza 1.3 auto, innova auto…
had driven all the cars mention countless times and have to admit, compare to my savvy, the others interior really look sort out but in term of driving pleasure (ride and handling), none of them (T/H/K) can beat proton, even the savvy.
interm of engine, if savvy vs myvi, it seems equal but savvy has the upper hand on upper rev range. tested. and myvi seems easy to drive in the city and perfect for a lady driver where savvy is more aggressive suits me. but my father saga is the best coz its all rounder.
my waja campro (catless mod by powerzone) easily out handle the others in drag after 3k rpm range (tested). nevertheless, in town driving, honda city vtec and vios seems the best. but for handling is still waja the best.
i always test drive cars when i have free time, in order to experience driving. but always put a logic mind when test drive it. for budget mpv, i thinks it is up to ur preference. if somebody said exora is underpower, i said not if u compare to what its offer, the power is decend but if u compare to 2.0 or 2.4 (mid-price mpv), of course, it seems underpower. but compare to my friend 1.8 wish, exora power is not that bad and i praise the handling of exora. if u compare to wish, wish seems floating during corners and bends and easy to oversteer if u push hard, but that not the purpose of mpv right.
anywway, p2 mpv is quite descend but we cannot compare it with exora. if we compare with exora, of course exora will win hands down because of MPV. exora suits it purpose as people mpv, not marketing mpv. thats why syed hafiz said that it is more wagon than mpv.

Something I'd like to share with you all about this D46T, as explained to me by my ex-classmate (Senior Engineer, UMW Toyota Shah Alam). This model will be equipped with Automatic Air-Conditioning System, which is similar to our local Toyota Wish model, which designed to keep the entire cabin cool and comfortable at a desired temperature even when the vehicle is parked under the scorching sun. With a booster, this happens even more quickly for rear passengers. Surely this P2 D46T will not require any air-cond console placed on center ceiling. All the automotive engineer just laughing when reading this page. Even if S-class used tin milo for its body, it is still safe because it structure already design to cover passenger & driver. So, impact test not measure by knock the body but the inside structure, pillar & side beam. Is that correct Mr. penyu?

Have you see MB E-class, also turn to yellowish. Know why? Because the owner have a lot of money to polish the headlamp & damaged the UV layer on the plastic lens. So, please do not use that liquid.

Hotblood thanks for the info…and my friend's Spectra also got that problem..the plastic headlamp become yellowish and he just replace one side for around rm200++….any car using plastic headlamp will faces this problem since of our weather.
If P2 use glass headlamp on its new lineup like Viva, Myvi and new Alza, the owner won't face this problem.

i disagree with the statement. P2 gearbox and engine is from D or T. what P1 can learn from P2? P2 only the assembler and bumper designer. if P1 want to learn how to design cheap bumper or assembling the part with minimal rattling maybe can, but learn from P2 about technical areas such as engine and gearbox R&D i don't think so. if P1 and P2 joint together, i think P2 is the one who will learn a lot. the jap left nothing to P2.just like mitsu left nothing to P1.

'local Wish' i'm referring to was the Toyota Wish 2.0 vvt-i (with led rear combination lamps) imported by UMW Toyota Motor Malaysia, which assembled in Thailand where the air-cond system is not the same like the CBU units from Japan. the Thailand version equipped with automatic air-conditioning system which suits our tropical climate like Thailand or Malaysia but not as Japan mild-climate. for those who had driven this, please do share your experience. all this while, information i got about this 'local Wish' was from UMW insider only and not directly from owner. thus, possibilities for the information to be deficient or untrue should be considered also. by the way, the reason why i used to call this model as 'local Wish' is simply because it was brought by UMW.
myvi rs, are u sure p2 mpv has automatic aircond whatever??? when u look at the spyshots around the net, it has a manual adjusted aircond (kalu x phm yang ada no 1-4 untuk dial aircond). even the temperature setting also manually adjusted. how come now it become automatic adjusted aircond??? maybe p2 can adjust the design after the spyshots on the net(p.s i think they do not have time to adjust anything since it allready go through production)…

what a joke….hope your in-laws sit at the back row and experience the 'coolness' of the aircond. When is someone that don't complain about the lack of coolness when the ac is on. jdm wish is the top list… and also naza citra. Just wait next when the lack of rain (around march to july) expose the ineffectiveness of this new D46T. I have seen the passo sette in sg…it's really nice. Just as someone mention about the difference of the myvi variant…1. toyota passo 2. daihatsi sirion 3. subaru justy 4. boon luminas and lasstttt one perodua myvissss
same to tome too, if i need five seaters with massive space i will consider this but will the 2nd row ‘butt heat’ problem also appears for this model as this model is the stretched version of myvi and myvi got problem with exhaust location that burn passenger butt. and as i said earlier, even kancil also sometime carry 6 people which is not designed to carry even 5 comfortably, what else for this model which is marketed as 5+2 mpw sure majority will buy for this purpose not as 5 seaters with huge storage compartment. if the ‘butt heat’ problem also appears in this model with no 2nd row blower, this is a formula for disaster. i like this car but why stripped down so many things……..

agree that the mpw SE version sure eye-catchy one, but is there any 'performance' version of sette or luminas in japan? coz normally p2 SE always follow the jap one. i afraid the SE will looks like myvi SE with longer but just like gen2 (before facelift) and persona.
about the 'butt heat', i don't really know how to explain, its kinda hot like near oven feeling, not really butt burning feeling, but the heat is there. this is normal for myvi but by installing the heatshield on the muffler can rectify the problem. lucky you for not feeling the heat, maybe your brother's myvi is 1 in 5 don't have this problem, the heat problem is no isolated case just like the wrapped brake disk problem. maybe the later version already rectified.
i think buying after 1st years or when new facelift version has launched is better maybe free from problems because i believe p1 or p2, brand new cars will always got problems one.
anyway, i still don't like no 2nd blower feature. why, afraid the blower will caput easily because have to work harder to get the air to the 3rd row, like this blower problem will be 'normal' later on.
More blower means more $$$$ to maintains. Bear in mind P2 Alza is meant to be a CAR first.

Antiwagon, Grand Livina is different category altogether.
Same league as Innova NazaRia or 2nd hand Stream or Wish AP version.
But if u compare to this list above, sorry to say Livina comes out last !!!
So don't try to downgrade Livina to the sub 60-70K.compact/med
sized MPV's.

grand livina is indeed a wagon derived from a sedan platform just like this mpv .btw proton is countering this mpv by introducing a b line exora selling from 57900 onward.will be launched simultaneously…… i think so hopefully perodua can revise the tentative price downward.

i think peyno already tell almost everything and i agree with him. When he commented on D46T, p1 basher starts to attack him. I believe this car have a lot of downgraded item than passo sette and i'm sure it's like with myvi where some of it involve the safety beam to protect the passenger. If you have test drive toyota passo or daihatsu sirion surely you know why peyno attack this produa alza. If you want to comment on the car, why don't we all accept everyones opinion and not using bad words on each other. I drive a kia carens 2.0 2007 aka naza citra II rondo.

i don't understand why more blower means more maintenance. to maintain the blower is so simple, just clean the netting filter inside, what so hard to maintain? more blower doesn't means more compressor, cooling coil, and radiator. i believe you have misunderstood between fan and aircond. example, if your fan is ok but aircond is not, means that the fan only blowing hot air. get it?
so more blower means easy to blow the cool air from the same single aircond to the 3rd row. but if only one blower is use (normally under dashboard of front passenger), the single blower need to turn at full speed all the time to get the cool air to the 3rd row, this will short-lived the blower, this what i call more $$$ to maintains (borrowing your words).
mee, i will absolutely test drive one to test what i have mentioned previously and wait a little long time before decide after receive comments from the 1st owners.

Perodua =$58000 – $63000
With the price diff of 30-40 k,

It is correct that a cheaper Exora will be launched soon, on Thursday evening in fact. I will publish the full details, specs, photos, etc on Thursday night after I get the press kit from the launch on Thursday evening.

this is the crash-safety body frame structure that practice by toyota and all their subsidiary such daihatsu
basically is the same evaluation with ncap but its specific only for toyota's while ncap is for europe's vehicle.both are equivalent and meets world safety crash test regulation
why p2 mpv not send for ncap?
due to the costing, its better to send to toyota for the crash safety rather than to europe.its free isn't?
proton must send to europe because no local company can verify the test.
besides, exora is tend to import for europe market (i guess), so ncap is a must
do they test on the real p2 mpv?i mean not just take boon luminas crash test?
of cause lorr..jpj requirement is very strict..so many regulation ie brakes, body crash and tire..the test must be done on the real car which request for legally drove on malaysian road..
lets hope that p2 could revealed GOA test result for their upcoming mpv as proton did for exora on ncap..
this is my opinion, in term of aircond, p1 cars are the best, please, sit in saga blm, turn the aircond knob to no 2, and do the same in myvi, u will know that p1 saga blm aircond is cooler and more power compare to myvi. so, i think even exora has front a/c, i think it is sufficient as aircond in toyota wish/honda stream but of course u need to turn the knob higher compare the h/mline exora due to the absence of rear aircond.
i think peyno xkan malu walupun xda 2nd and 3rd aircond coz honda stream ngan wish pun xdak aircond pun ok gak, xda lak org nak komen, besar gak. tapi kalu ada kat exora l-line ni, bagus gak. tapi kalu xdapun, bukan masalah besar coz byk owner exora cakap acond exora sejuk ngat sampai terpaksa tutup aircond belakang coz terlalu sejuk. jadi xdala masalahpun.
pelik2 org malaysia ni, menda yg x spatut jadi issue pun nak jadikan issue. xpalah,hak masing2
Personally I have booked an Alza premium with Classic Purple color, RM64,190…………
The air-cond is from Denso.
Its length slightly shorter than Grand Livina, but the wheel base is 2730(similar to Exora, Wish and Innova) compared to 2655 of G. Livina.
Its height is lower than Avanza but with coils spring, this sure will give a comfortable and smooth ride.
Thanks to mr/mrs. gojoe about da GOA, so now i understand already about what my fren say bout dis think at perodua alza. Yes, hope perodua can show da GOA test for this Perodua Alza so people not complain anymore.

Saya punya kawan, P1 salesman sendiri yang cakap selepas test drive, "Exora tak ade power…..naik bukit sekit pun……susah!" (unquote)…..kerana overweight(beratnya ringan sekit dari Innova) tapi enjin 1.6L saje. Kemudian kena pula tanggung 2nd evaporator(cooling unit dengan blower). Air-cond compressornya akan tarik power dari enjin Exora.
So akhirnya….under-power.
Alza–1.5L, tapi beratnya ringan—okay!
Nanti pergi Genting Highland dan kirakan ada berapa buah Exora naik dan berapa buah Alza naik.
They are a few air-cond installer in Malaysia, Denso, Sanden, APM, Patco and UCM.
To make an air-cond works, you need the following main items:
1) Compressor – normally imported from Japan, Denso, Sanden, Calsonic, Diesel Kiki
2) Evaporator Unit – Air passes through it will be cooled down and coming out from the grillle/vents . This can be locally manufactured.
3) Condensor — Located in front of the radiator. Locally produced.
But only the compressor will take your power off your enjin. If the capacity of the compressor used is a bigger one, it will ultimately take away the enjin power. If it is too small, the air-cond is not cool.
