The long-rumoured Honda Brio Sedan is coming soon. That’s something we gathered from this banner on Honda Thailand’s website, which promotes the models eligible for Thailand’s first car tax rebate scheme. The government project, which started on September 16 last year and will come to an end this December 31, is targeting 500,000 vehicles and Bt30 billion in tax rebates.
But that’s not the main point we’re trying to share here. As you can see, there’s a mystery car that will also be eligible for the first car scheme, and it’s a new 1.2L sedan (thanks Ae for the translation, I owe you drinks). The engine capacity is a hint that this new model is a booted variant of the Brio hatchback that made its world premiere in Thailand in March 2011.
The Brio is powered by an i-VTEC four-cylinder 1.2L SOHC unit offering 90 hp at 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm at 4,800 rpm. The engine – which is Euro 4 compliant – can utilise E20 fuel, and offers claimed fuel economy of 20 km/l. The Ecocar status hatch is priced from 433,500 to 508,500 baht in the Land of Smiles.
Below are renderings of the Honda Brio Sedan by the talented Theophilus Chin. Click here for full details of the Brio hatchback.

Nice to see fuel efficient engines from Honda but knowing Malaysian concept of thinking, the 1.2 engine will never make it here
If Mitsu Mirage is RM10K more expensive than Thai-made here, then this Brio Sedan price is RM60K..? Pass me the pipe…Dacing won’t let Honda sell it that price…must priced it RM70K minimum…Bravo NAP Bravo!
Can u calc how much % tax for rm10k increase for mirage…
base tax 75% excise n 10% sales +-10% profit..how much % tax u pay?
another tin can… ghastly
I know the mitsubishi in a ‘world car’ designed to pass euro standards (very tough) since it will be sold there. Is the Brio engineered to the same standards or is a ‘third world special’ engineered for developing markets and not designed with such high standards in mind.

433,500 to 508,500 baht which is approximately rm43k to rm53k… but with our local tax i think it should cost more than rm60k or maybe more :(
the underpowered junk is here. why can’t Honda just plonk in a turbocharged 1.2? be more advance a bit la.
stupid…when the 1.2 is more than enough to do the job what for going turbo with such normal city car?anything related to japanese car n you’ll rage..typical basher
pea brain, which car with 1.2 NA is more than enough to do a job? That’s a punny engine with 90ps and it’s never good enough to haul a fully laden car. I’m sure you don’t know what is power to weight ratio. Brio is 920kg and the law of physics will tell you that it is not powerful.
not enough?lol…920 is not heavy for 1.2l….it’s a 110Nm dude
this car 0-100 is 12.5…for such price car what do you want?lol…….even viva did 0-100 in 12.8 for manual….typical basher
That’s why people find these cars struggling at highway if fully laden and hard to switch lane to keep up with highway speed.
you are honda salesman? LOL
No turbocharged! AES all around us remember? drive very slow!
lol..turbo here…turbo there..u think all company same tech arr? diff tech..diff ways..diff style la.
Nice price, but once reach Malaysia it will be RM20k more expensive? Let’s wait and see…
Thailand – land of smiles
Malaysia – land of sighs
Good car! Can prevent AES! 60KMPH!!
Don’t just dream of owning a Honda. You got a choice to choose. It’s time to even get a second car as Honda. We need to open up the market.
coming to malaysia? or thailand? why need the exclamation mark? its like telling us is coming to malaysia
It’s telling Protong that 1.2L Biro Sedan RM62K price worth better than RM74K Preve…
Don’t need teaser anymore la….it will be Proton Brio soon…Bravo Proton!….I support your collaboration with Honda….at least a cheaper vehicle to Malaysia
