This is the Honda NSX Concept-GT racer, which the Japanese carmaker unveiled recently. The car turned up at Super GT Round 5, which took place over the weekend at the Suzuka circuit.
Although it’s based on the NSX Concept you first saw at the 2012 Detroit show, the Honda NSX Concept-GT doesn’t carry a V6 – it packs instead a mid-mounted 2.0 litre direct-injected four-cylinder turbo engine. It’s also a hybrid, however.
No other technical specifics were divulged, but the GT500 class limits output to 500 hp, so the hybrid racer shouldn’t produce far from that figure. Expect to see it run the full 10-race season next year in this class.
The road-going NSX, which is to be built at a new Performance Manufacturing Centre in Ohio, is scheduled to go on sale in 2015. A running prototype made its debut recently at Indy – treat your ears to its song here.

Overdone! Won’t get fast!
Honda design has been dull lately , this so called supercar looks like crz
Is it true that there will be no more Malaysian round for the SuperGT starting next year? Looking at their planned 2014 race schedule, Sepang round is missing, replaced by the Thai & Korean rounds.I guess these are the new markets where the local fans reception could be huge , whereas in Malaysia the local reception is dwindling..pity..Because based the new globalized GT500 technical regs next year, it could lead to more participation especially from the brands competing in the DTM and GrandAm champ – which means more variety in the SuperGT GT500 class..

The sound of 4-cylinder!
The new GT500 regulation has been change to follow that of the Deutsch Tourenwagen Meisterschaft in every respect except the engine where they are now free to use any displacement of any kind. That’s why now the new GTR GT500 and its rival and replacement to the Lexus SC GT500, the new Lexus RC-F GT500 (yes the racing version of the yet to be launched RC-F) all look like DTM racer instead of the usual GT500 racer and IMO, it looks more civilized and less extreme than the cars it replaces(esp in the GTR case). The previous machines all looked like some apocalyptic serial murder, certainly sound like an apocalyptic banshee. That said, they all still have their rape face on, and I can’t wait for the Keishin racing livery on this thing(the factory white looks rather plain)
this is the sound coming from a 4 cylinder engine. this is the HONDA we’re talking about
