Earlier this month, leaked shots of the facelifted Mazda 6 began cropping up on the internet, leading us to believe that the real deal would materialise soon enough. Well, here it is. Making its world debut at the 2014 Los Angeles motor show is the facelifted Mazda 6.
The most obvious change in front is the new grille, which now sports a more pronounced horizontal wing design within the frame and additional chrome accents surrounding the fog lights. At the rear, refreshed LED rear lamps and the presence of a shark fin antennae complete the exterior outlook.
On profile, the Mazda 6 retains its bold silhouette with the addition of new, darker 19-inch aluminium wheels thanks to “high-gloss paint”. At its debut, the new Mazda 6 is presented with two new colour schemes, Sonic Silver Metallic and Titanium Flash Mica – first seen on the new Mazda 3.
Inside, occupants will be greeted by Mazda’s first-ever use of ‘off-white’ leather and an electronic parking brake. Another massive change is the inclusion of the Mazda Connect system – the company’s new onboard connectivity platform – which is paired to a free-standing, seven-inch tablet-like display.
The next wave of SkyActiv updates include a Drive Selection programme for the Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmission. The programme allows for drivers to select different modes pertaining to shift speeds and the like. NVH levels have also improved with a 25% drop in cabin noise when cruising on highways.
Carried over are the 2.5 litre SkyActiv-G direct-injection petrol engine with the option of the aforementioned six-speed SkyActiv-Drive auto gearbox and a SkyActiv-MT manual transmission. Mazda’s i-stop idling system i-Eloop re-generative braking system work in tandem to improve overall efficiency.
As for safety features, Mazda’s i-ActivSense umbrella ensures that aids such as a blind-spot monitoring system and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are present. The latter ensures that sufficient warning is presented to the driver when he/she reverses out into the flow of traffic.
The facelifted Mazda 6 is presented alongside the refreshed Mazda CX-5, all-new CX-3 as well as the new Mazda MX-5 at the Mazda booth at the LA motor show. The company has stated that the new 6 will go on sale in early 2015 in Japan and North America, with global sales commencing not long after.

Excellent! Kudos Mazda..
Why bother buying brand new when Japs are doing facelift so fast? The car was only introduced recently.
Better buy 2nd hand. Why waste on brand new?
Yes you go get a second hand wife too. Let all the men ride in her first then only you marry ya…. Otherwise Shut Up
Love the Interior finishing, hate the exterior design.
oooo the interior, it just went upmarket again from previous, no more ‘like cx5’ references anymore
I saw Manual Transmission!!!

I am pretty sure that the blind-spot monitoring system and Rear Cross Traffic Alert will only be available for the 2.5 litre model and not the 2.0 litre model.
The HUD looks like the one from the Peugeot 5008 & 3008
