More leaked shots of the Mazda BT-50 facelift have surfaced. Last month, we saw a solitary pic of a red Mazda truck with an updated face, and these latest images match the previous one.
How would Mazda’s Kodo design language translate on to a pick-up truck? Well, it’s not as Kodo as the passenger cars, but the result is slightly prettier than the current Nagare-inspired truck to us. Today’s BT-50, which is based on the Ford Ranger T6, doesn’t subscribe to the macho template and sticks out a little in its class as a result.
The facelift is immediately recognisable as a Mazda BT-50, and the elements (headlamps, grille) are still large, but overall, the fascia appears to be more toned down and less in your face.
There’s no rear pic, but the two-tone wheels are new and the design is very Mazda 2-like. There’s a close up shot of what looks like the rear Mazda emblem with an embedded reverse camera. We haven’t seen the cabin yet, but the refreshed truck is rumoured to come with Mazda’s MZD Connect infotainment system. Should be pretty soon before it breaks cover, so we’ll know for sure soon.
When it debuts, the BT-50 facelift will face the new Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger facelift, new Mitsubishi Triton and new Nissan Navara NP300, a pretty impressive and intimidating foursome. Does it stand a chance?
