Top 10 best-selling cars in Japan for the year 2015

toyota-aqua-x-urban-0003

It turns out that the Toyota Aqua or better known to us as the Prius c is the best-selling car in the land of the rising sun. Now, total sales of the hybrid numbered 215,525 units in 2015 according to data released by the Japan Automobile Dealers Association.

The bigger Toyota Prius was the second most popular model, which saw a total of 127,403 units sold, while the Honda Fit (Jazz) is in third, with 119,846 units sold. The Toyota Corolla takes the fourth place with some 109,021 vehicles sold, and the Nissan Note is in fifth, with 97,995 units delivered.

Sixth place belongs to the Toyota Voxy MPV with a total of 92,546 units delivered, while the Toyota Vitz (Yaris) with 77,612 units and the Mazda Demio (Mazda 2) with 72,771 units take seventh and eighth place respectively. In ninth place is the Honda Vezel (HR-V) with 71,021 units sold and in tenth is the Toyota Sienta with 63,904 units sold.

While the data shows as such, the reality is that passenger vehicles sales in Japan is down by 9.3% for the entire year of 2015, Forbes reports. Mini vehicles or kei cars were said to be the main cause of lower sales – taxes on kei cars were raised in April 2015, last year. Compared to 2014, sales of kei cars dropped by 16.6% in 2015, while market share slumped from 40.9% in 2014 to 37.6% in 2015.

Regular cars saw a 4.2% drop year-on-year. Honda suffered the most with a drop in sales of 14.4% in 2015, compared to 2014. Toyota on the other hand, lost 6.8% of unit sales in 2015, but the number one automaker’s market share went up by 1.1%. Imported cars were reportedly down by 2.2% in 2015.

In overseas, especially Indonesia, and also home country Japan, Toyota is highly respected. But in Malaysia, Toyota now has become a laughing stock. If you buy one, people secretly laugh at you thinking you are the dumbest person in town cause the Toyota is heavily stripped of its safety features. Now somemore, Picanto, comes with 6 airbags and can be safer than a Camry!

Malaysians already now know how Toyota has been cheating people. Until today, even RM150k Camry got no VSC and only 2 airbags. Paultan already wrote long article how vital VSC is 3 years ago and yet UMW don’t care a damn for our lives.

Global price of Camry with 10 airbags and VSC is US$22,000. Besides VSC and 10 airbags, the global Camry has about 20 other safety features that is NOT in our Camry. These features are standard and free on the global Camry. our Camry RM160k also no VSC, and only 2 airbags. Dont even talk about the junk Prius C that comes here. Now, already 200k for the junk Prius C, how to buy?

Junk Prius now also Rm300k. How to buy?

UMW don’t care about your life. you die or vegetable, they don’t care, janji untung lebih. they take out safety features to save cost. Yet, they charge us 3x the global price of US$22k. We buy for RM180k a heavily stripped down car. Same with Altis. Same with Vios.

Worse still, it is CKD and Made in Malaysia. The price is even cheaper. If US Toyota is sold at US22k and still make a profit, you can bet that UMW will get this car at country distributor price of US15k. CKD it, it will be US$12k (about RM40k). But they sell to Malaysians for RM180k. This is Camry, imagine how cheap the factory Prius will be!

Camry Hybrid even better. US$26k. Come to Malaysia no tax. But sold for RM175k

Why the junk Prius C and Prius now so expensive? What happened to MAI and their promises that Malaysia was moving towards EEV?

      • If u can afford a more expensive car than a Normal toyota. Buy the new Lexus RX 350.
        It has 10 airbags!
Otherwise get the recond Rx350 models still with 10 airbags and other safety features depending on model and dealer. Peace…..

Bodo woi…. In US they ckd their own Camry la.. And you think UMW making a clean profit of RM160k?

Your $22k is lowest spec might be manual version that not even include carpet, reverse sensor and alloy rim. Please add up another 15-35% of the price tag as different state in US have different rates.

Official secrets cannot be made known to us, because they are none of our businesses. And you support that.

BTW, to me, the above article is another example to show us that kehidupan nowadays banyak susah, di mana-mana.

We don’t see Benz, BMW and Audi merata-rata di mana-mana pun. Maybe KL have more of these than many cities where vehicles are cheaper.

If without tongkats, we will see even more imbalance.
