Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype leaked – first pics

Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype leak 3

The Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype that’s headed to the 2016 Geneva Motor Show next week has been leaked online. These photos, posted by CarScoops, finally reveal the 10th-generation Civic’s hatchback form, featuring a sloping rear hatch a short rear overhang.

You can ignore the Prototype tag – it’s there because the new Honda Civic Hatchback isn’t due to go on sale in Europe until early 2017. Other than that, you’re pretty much looking at the real deal, save for a few show car bits and pieces.

This semi-aggressive look most likely previews the upcoming Civic Type S, which is rumoured to be re-positioned to take on the likes of the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Ford Focus ST. If so, it will slot under the full-fledged Golf R, Focus RS-rivalling Civic Type R.

Honda has already confirmed that the standard Civic Hatchback will arrive in Europe with 127 hp/200 Nm 1.0 litre and 201 hp/260 Nm 1.5 litre VTEC Turbo engines. As with the US-market sedan, expect the hatch to be offered with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT.

That rear is awesome! One of the best rear designs of a sloping roof rear hatchback.

If proton wants to facelift the suprima, please make this Honda rear design as its benchmark.

The design of hatchback more attractive than sedan. We knew it won’t be here in whatsoever future, but impressive design by Honda. Altis seem antique in this forum

I think the design looks better resolved here than on the sedan. The sedan’s rearwards sloping roofline and over-long rear overhang, does not balance with the rest of the design (to me anyways). But the hatchback here does not have the same sloping roofline. Instead using sloping rear doors to convey a fastback look (ala the HRV). And the short rear overhang just makes it look a lot sportier. Very nice. Too bad, it won’t likely make it to our neck of the woods.

Looks like beef up Gen2 seriously. But if they make ala NSX tailight, that would be awesome…
