2016 Honda Civic teased ahead of Indonesian debut

Show Who You Really Are

Recently, the 2016 Honda Civic was sighted completely undisguised in Indonesia, indicating that the tenth-generation C-segment model will be making its debut there soon. Now, Honda Indonesia has officially started teasing the new Civic on its Facebook page with this video. Expect the model to debut at the Indonesia International Motor Show next week.

The 16-second video shows us glimpses of the features to expect on the Indonesian-spec Civic, which should be produced at the company’s Karawang plant, alongside the CR-V, Mobilio, Jazz and others.

Among them include a TFT LCD instrument display, automatic air-conditioning, keyless operation and full-LED headlights. A brief shot in the video also reveal alloy wheels that highly resemble that of the Civic Turbo RS that is offered in Thailand.

In the Kingdom of Smiles, the Civic is offered in 1.8 naturally-aspirated and 1.5 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engines, both mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which replaces the old five-speed auto.

A total of four variants – 1.8 E, 1.8 EL, Turbo and Turbo RS are offered for the Thai-spec Civic, with optional Modulo accessories. In the Phillipines, only the 1.8 E and Turbo RS will be offered.

Following this trend, we’d expect the Indonesian-spec Civic to follow suit, and to a larger extent, Malaysia as well. The new Civic is widely tipped to make its local debut here as a locally-assembled model from Honda Malaysia’s plant in Pegoh, Melaka. However, when that will happen is something that has yet to be confirmed.

Is the RS version come with the front black grill & rear spoilers? Or just the modulo version? Quite confused here, because I prefer not to have black grill & rear spoilers if I getting a RS trim.

That is a completely different design for the instrument cluster; looks like a toned down, less luxurious version compared to the one in Thailand and US. This better not make it to Malaysia.

Honda malaysia will need to clear the current civic stocks before bringing in the new model.
