2016 Honda BR-V India 42

The Honda BR-V has already gone on sale in Thailand and Indonesia. Come May 5, 2016, the SUV will be launched in India, and according to Indian Autos Blog, two Earth Dreams engines will be offered to customers there.

The first is a 1.5 litre SOHC i-VTEC petrol engine, which is also used in the City. On the BR-V, the mill will reportedly produce 119 PS and 145 Nm. The engine is paired to a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT (with paddle shifters), sending drive to the front wheels.

Also available is a 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel engine, which is also sourced from the City (India gets both petrol and diesel variants). The oil burner outputs 100 PS and 200 Nm, but unlike the petrol mill, is only available with a six-speed manual.

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) certified fuel economy ratings for both the petrol powertrain configurations are 15.4 km/L (manual) and 16 km/L (CVT), respectively. As for the diesel motor, it is rated at 21.9 km/L.

It also appears that the India-market BR-V will come as a seven-seater only, similar to what is offered in Indonesia. In the republic, the SUV gets the petrol powertrain only, with six-speed manual and CVT transmission options. However, the Thailand-market BR-V comes in seven- AND five-seater variants. Both are powered by the same 1.5 litre SOHC i-VTEC petrol engine, paired to a CVT only.

Prices for the Indonesian-market BR-V start at 227,500,000 rupiah (RM67,060) and go up to 262,500,000 rupiah (RM77,485). Meanwhile, the Thai-market BR-V is priced from 750,000 baht (RM83,407) to 820,000 baht (RM91,207). The India-market BR-V is expected to be priced between 850,000 rupees (RM49,800) to 1,115,000 rupees (RM65,270).
