Proton Persona and Saga introduced in Brunei, giving the two models their international market debut

Proton has given the new Persona and third-gen Saga their international market debut. The two cars were officially introduced in Brunei by distributor PAD Motors last week at an event held at Times Square shopping centre in Bandar Seri Begawan, on January 27.

In Brunei, the Persona goes on sale in a sole trim level, the 1.6L Executive CVT, while two variants of the Saga will be available, the 1.3L Executive CVT and Premium CVT. The two new cars join the Proton Iriz, which made its Brunei market debut in October last year.

The unveiling ceremony was officiated by Rafedah Abdul Aziz, the deputy high commissioner of the Malaysian High Commission in Brunei. Also present at the ceremony was Proton CEO Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Kenali as well as the automaker’s director of transformation and head of international sales, Mohd Khalid Yusof.

The automaker said that both cars are now available for test drives and bookings at all Proton outlets in Brunei, which are operated by PAD Motors. It added that the distributor has opened a new showroom in Bandar Seri Begawan, which is located at Complex Beribi in Jalan Gadong.

Why never write how much are the cars there?

    Write that down also.

Why when other cars launch in other countries the price is stated in your article? Like the new City or Vios in Thailand.

Anyway, nowadays got internet. Everyone can go see. Go check their website. How many used cars they have in stock and what brands they have. They are not a brand dedicated dealer/distributor in Brunei.

Another way to waste money. Hello, Bruneians have one of the highest GDP per capita. Their Brunei dollar is at PAR with Singapore dollar. They earn also 10x what Malaysians earn. Even normal government ranking servant in Brunei earn about B$7000 (RM23,000)

you think they want to bother with caplang Proton? They can buy Merc or BMW anytime cause their taxes are so low. They are not dirty like the Msian gomen who tax cars so high.

Toyota in Brunei is super cheap considering what Brunei people earn (tax free also)

This is fine example how Proton waste money. Like in Singapore, have grand showroom, spend millions to maintain it, pay super high expat pay to the abangs abangs running the showroom but whole year last year, sold a GRAND TOTAL of 1 car.

The same with UK. Spend millions of pounds but just sell a few cars and make a few thousand ringgit profit.

Come on Proton, learn to save money. This is why you are losing RM4 million per day and literally bankrupt

    Hum that was fast !!!!!
The Saga and The Persona were launched just 3 Months ago ……
Next it should be Thailand or Indonesia ….More Like Thailand because Indos don’t like sedans more like Mini Hatches …..
PT Proton Indonesia is only now getting ready for the Iriz’s introduction so the Saga & Persona would just have to wait..

Should have exported to Thailand and Philippines as both countries have a high demand for compact sedan. Exporting to other developing countries outside ASEAN such as in the South American continent would be a really good opportunity.

Would be good for Proton to sell their compact sedan in India too. Honda Brio Amaze? Suzuki Swift DZire? Ford Figo Aspire? Hyundai i10 Sedan? Chevrolet Essentia? Tata Zest and Indigo CS? All compacts were made in India. With market that have the love for compact sedans it sure would be a good try for Proton to launch their offerings.

MAI and Proton. Make sure you announce how many units Proton sold per model per month. Why so secretive and scared to declare to the country? You used our tax payers money to fund this crap company so we need to know how they are doing also. Why is there no transparency in this?

Proton with CamPro based VVT & Punch CVT gearbox cannot go anywhere. Perodua better than Proton in Brunei market with dvvt, vvti & dual vvti engine & 4 speed e-at, perodua better than Proton in number of sales.
