KLIMS 2018 – accessory makers join the exhibitor list

The Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) is making its return in 2018 after a five-year hiatus, and organiser Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has announced that apart from the cars themselves that will be the stars of the show, the show will also play host to accessories and car care products.

“Malaysia’s automotive industry players extend beyond vehicle marques manufacturers, franchise holders and distributors. The aftermarket including parts, accessories and care products comprises a major sector in Malaysia. Visitors can check out a wide range of automotive products, fuelling their automobile possibilities from vehicles ranges, vehicle enhancements and modifications, to a glimpse into future technologies and styling of cars,” said MAA president Datuk Aishah Ahmad.

The organisation claims that the global car accessories market is being driven by a growing interest in customisation, and that demand has skyrocketed in ASEAN countries in particular – especially among the younger generation. Major manufacturers from Japan, North America and Europe are said to be showing higher interest in the region, and will be showing their wares at KLIMS to improve sales and market share.

A regular exhibitor at the show, 3M will be returning this year, and will highlight the company’s total solutions for the industry’s mega trends in safety, aesthetics, performance and energy. Discounts on products such as 3M AutoFilm, 3M Car Wrap and 3M Car Care Solutions are expected to be offered.

“3M is a global science company that never stops inventing. We are strong advocates of car and road safety. Our technology is enabling road connectivity and more; we help enhance car aesthetics, and enable car owners to unleash creativity and bring it to life with our innovative products.

“This year, we would like to showcase the breadth and depth of 3M’s expertise in the automotive industry at KLIMS’18 and we aim to excite our customers with our innovative solutions,” said 3M Malaysia’s general manager for safety and graphic business group GT Lim.

Also returning to this year’s edition is Kakimotor, which will be promoting products like the ZerOne coilover kit and big brake kit. “We are exhibiting at KLIMS for the second time and we will be using the show platform to deliver awareness of our company products. We find KLIMS has proven fruitful in reaching out and explaining to customers about our products,” said Kakimotor manager Alex Lim.

Other exhibitors include V-Kool, OSRAM, PG Perma Glass, PG Pro QPlus, Motul, Elite Looks, Be Pure, GetF1, NGK Spark Plugs, NTK Oxygen Sensors, STP, Armor All, Kaki Motor, Ravenol and Ottoman. The show is happening from November 23 to December 2 at its new home, the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

Go to International Motor Shows, you see all the new launches.

In Malaysia, the word International is misleading. In KLIMS, all you see is banks promoting their credit cars, lubricant oil companies promoting their oil.

Hardly any new launches. Cars are also locked. Nobody can enter most cars.

Better for KLIMS to improve themselves.

Hmm… I do agree with John above. I’ve went to KLIMs since the beginning and most of the car on show were those models currently on sale, so the public has access to them. Only those in concept car, classic car, & itasha car categories were limited access depending on the owners.

Probably most of the booths will be occupied by hire purchase bankers, insurance agents and credit cards application sales promoters.

Looks like there are more car accessories makers than new vehicles on display not to mention Banks promoting their most profitable income ie Credit card’s.

  • The organisers didnt reveal that the main reason they include accesory makers this time is lack of booth rentals from the car companies. KLIMS is like going to a giant showroom which only displays most of the current models except for a few prototypes. Not to mention the bankers offering credit card promotions, companies selling car care products and etc, What is the drawing power and uniqeness of this car show? We can get to view most of the models in the normal showroom without paying anything. Sometimes we are even offered door gifts or lucky draws if we went for test drives. If you notice, the premium car makers are not interested the participating in KLIMS bcos of its lower international recognition compared to Singapore, Indonesia or Bangkok Motor shows.

I have read John’s comment above and I guess either you didn’t read his comment properly or you didn’t understand the meaning of the word “clambering”. I suggest you look it up, for your own sake and your self-respect. Good day.
