The Proton X70 has been launched in Brunei, with distribution of the SUV model handled by PAD Motors. Our Borneo neighbour is the first export market for the X70, and customers there will get to choose from three variants.
In terms of pricing, the base Standard 2WD goes for B$32,500 (RM98,028), while the mid-tier Executive 2WD retails at B$36,000 (RM108,585). Meanwhile, the range-topping Premium 2WD is priced at B$39,000 (RM117,634). These prices include a five-year/unlimited mileage warranty, as well as five times free labour service.
By comparison, the Honda CR-V sold in Brunei, which is offered in a sole 1.5 RVSi-B VTEC Turbo variant, has an on-the-road price of B$55,000 (RM168,162). Meanwhile, the Mazda CX-5 is priced between B$43,925 and B$48,527 (RM134,234 to RM148,298) based on the most recent approved car price list (as of February 28, 2019) issued by Brunei’s ministry of finance and economy.
All X70 variants are powered by a 1.8 litre turbocharged and direct-injected four-cylinder petrol engine, which serves up 181 hp and 285 Nm of torque. The mill is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that sends drive to the front wheels.
The X70 in Brunei also gets the Geely Smart Ecosystem (GKUI) Android-based infotainment system, which features an eight-inch TFT LCD touchscreen, MirrorLink connectivity for Android smartphones and voice command that responds to the activation term, “Hi Proton.”
In terms of safety kit, all variants come with six airbags, Isofix child seat anchors, ABS, EBD, brake assist, auto brake hold, ESC, traction control, hill hold assist and hill descent control.
The Executive and Premium variants add on an around-view monitor, but it is the latter that gets a suite of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS). These include Automatic Emergency Brake (AEB), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Door Opening Warning System (DOW) and Intelligent High Beam Control (IHBC).
As for colour options, the X70 is offered with the following paint finishes: Snow White, Jet Grey, Cinnamon Brown, Armour Silver and Flame Red.
With the X70 now introduced in Brunei, the next stop for the SUV is likely Indonesia, as revealed by Rully Septiadi, head of marketing at Proton Edar Indonesia (PEI), in a previous report. Other markets like Bahrain are said to be under consideration as well.

Just only RM1 cheaper in Brunei than in Malaysia for selling Proton X70
One person is from kunta dupes
53 downvotes is from kunta dupes
Just remember that 1 Brunei dollar is rm3 and officers in Malaysia working with rm3k has 2k dollar salary there.
36k is nothing for them, but bruneians do adore Japanese made cars.since they are relatively cheap.
Now I feel much more comfortable of x70 selling price in Malaysia. For once it’s close to ‘ what I pay what I get’
Would you want to know how much X70 would cost in Singapore?
would be sgd90k-sgd150k(not including COE wiz could be double d price tag)..hahaha..some singaporean might opt for X70 rather then its stepbrothers volvo XC90 or XC60 coz X70 have the ability to camoeflage when drive into My after they exchange d number plate before cruising 888km/h on the NSE to beat AES..
Yeah, waiting the day they become smart and fake Mesian number plates. Sinkie ones became too easy to catch.
Correct Brian. So syukurr we all in Malaysia…
Cukur Sinkies not yet so smart to fake Mesian number plates. Wait til they become smarter.
Proton X70 built Tg Malim in Brunei.
Bahrain is NOT in East Europe.
If you look at the number of people in Bahrain you could swore that it was some kind of place in Europe with the huge numbers of Caucasians there. So I can’t someone for mistaking Bahrain was located somewhere in Europe.
With that price, bruneian can get better cars.
Probably not SUVs? Because Bruneians can afford it, most manufacturers bring in only mid to high specs levels. There is virtually none in that size segment and equipment level that sells that cheap.
Syukur brunai. Proton X70 $30K murah gile wei
But, in Malaysia, the price will be cheaper than the price in Brunei and CBU X70 in Malaysia when comes with CKD
price is lower than malaysia?
any spec different?
Can’t see why Brunei still sells cheaper to Malaysia,
Because if its more expensive, they would rather go across to Miri and buy the cars there. No point cannibalising Brunei dealer whom are just starting up.
Wah.. Brunei far cheap car than malaysia.. Wth! Ini semua salah proton perodua.. Salah tunM
In this case, no. Brunei is a duty-free country. Free education ,healthcare, subsidised housing, etc. They are a small country with a healthy surplus of crude oil.
Kalau kat semenanjung mahal… Kat Sabah Sarawak lagi mahal weiii, sama je dekat kepulauan borneo ni, dianaktiri jugak ni.
brunei car prices actually went up quite a bit
brunei people earn more but pay the same price as malaysians.
brunei prices actually before COE premiums
Nobody in brunei drives a proton. Their c-class B$50+k. If your pay is B$4k, can pay off loan for mercedes between 2-3 years.
Because Protons weren’t officially sold there before?
Nobody in brunei drives a proton. Their a-class B$50+k. If your pay is B$4k, can pay off loan for mercedes between 2-3 years.
