GALLERY: MINI 60 Years Edition – price from RM256k

MINI Malaysia recently launched the MINI 60 Years Edition to commemorate the brand’s 60 years of existence, and we now bring you a live gallery of the limited-edition model. Based on the Cooper S 3 Door Hatch, only 60 units will be offered, with each priced from RM255,888 (RM6,000 more than the standard Cooper S 3 Door), on-the-road without insurance.

The 60 Years Edition can be identified by its black bonnet stripes with Aspen White and British Oak pinstripes, as well as 60 years badging on the side scuttle. There’s also a floor projection of the 60 years logo from the side mirror when the doors are opened.

Buyers will be able to choose from two exterior colours, with the first being a new British Racing Green specifically recreated for the edition, complete with a Pepper White roof and mirror caps. The second option is a Melting Silver shade, which is paired with a Jet Black roof and mirror caps.

The car is also specified with the 60 Years Chili equipment pack, with items like LED headlights, LED fog lamps, white turn indicators and LED rear lights in the Union Jack design. The 17-inch 60 Years Spoke two-tone alloy wheels are also exclusive to the model.

Moving inside, you’re greeted by MINI Yours leather lounge upholstery in Dark Maroon with green contrast stitching. The ’60 Years’ insignia is also found on the corners of the seats, side sills and on the lower spoke of the MINI Yours Walknappa leather sport steering wheel.

The rest of the kit list consists of a 6.5-inch touchscreen central display, automatic climate control, velour floor mats, Apple CarPlay connectivity, a rear-view camera and a MINI Excitement Package offering ambient lighting adjustment with a choice of 12 colours. Other regulation items include Comfort Access, front/rear Park Distance Control, cruise control with braking function and Performance Control.

Under the bonnet, there’s a BMW 2.0 litre four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine offering 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque. This is mated to a seven-speed DCT Steptronic sports transmission, allowing for a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 6.7 seconds and a 235 km/h top speed.

In celebration of the brand’s 60th anniversary, owners who purchase the edition from now to August 31, 2019 will enjoy coverage under the 60 Months MINI Service + Repair Inclusive programme.

This will provides owners with 60 months or 80,000 km (whichever comes first) of free scheduled service and 60 months of unlimited mileage warranty. Should you purchase the edition after August 31, the car will be covered by a four-year unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service.

When your Mini is nearly RM300k and it is in BMW and Mercedes territory of prices, something must be wrong with the ringgit.

60 years of mismanagement has made our Ringgit collapse. Both Singapore and Malaysia Merdeka same time, why is one country currency 3X stronger than another?

Because Singapore income was 10x of KL when we split so within just a generation of 60 years, we have reduced it down to 3x is a mighty impressive feat of ‘missmanagement’. If they had truly missmanged it would have been 100x the difference. Kudos to 60 years of ‘missmanagement’!

      • This is fake news. When we split, income was the same. Currency also the same. Up to 1983, Ringgit and SGD was one to one.

        Nice fake news bro

Stop complaining and expecting tongkat from anyone, work harder so you can buy that MINI. I know you can do it just work harder. The price isn’t high at all considering this is a BMW which is only RM56k higher than a Camry.

Looks like the current gen Mini will have it’s shelf life lasting until 2023 as BMW tries to find a way to decrease cost of development for the next gen Mini. Hopefully there is something positive from the proposed JV with Great Wall Motors because that will decide whether we will get an all new 3 door Hatch.
