Touch ‘n Go eWallet integrates Petronas via Setel mini programme for fuel payments at Petronas stations

Setel has formalised a strategic partnership with TNG Digital to enable customers to make payment for fuel purchases at the pump from within the Touch ‘n Go eWallet mobile app, via a new “Petronas via Setel” mini programme within the Touch ‘n Go eWallet, without having to leave their vehicles or download a separate app.

“This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to scale Setel’s platform through ecosystem integration that delivers meaningful impact. Refuelling is a high-frequency transaction. Embedding Setel within TNG eWallet allows us to meet users where they are and reinforce our vision to deliver seamless and frictionless mobility and retail experiences through digital innovation,” said Setel CEO Abdullah Ayman Awaluddin.

“This partnership with Setel supports our goal of integrating practical, everyday services into the lives of our users. Fuel payments are a regular routine for many individuals, and this collaboration makes the process faster and more accessible, while creating new touchpoints within Petronas’ nationwide network,” said TNG Digital CEO Alan Ni.

Setel was introduced in 2018, and is Petronas’ own e-wallet system that was designed to be integrated directly with the fuel pumps, said at the time to be the first such system in Southeast Asia.

Since then, the app has gained more features, such as automated parking payment, payment for in-store purchases, support for payment via credit/bank cards, emergency auto assistance, as well as EV charging. The Setel app can also show either EV chargers or petrol stations as default, depending on the user’s selection.
