Here’s something to liven up a Monday morning – Honda has released advertising for the 2013 Civic Si, the sportier variant in the North American line-up. The Civic Si is powered by a 2.4 litre i-VTEC engine that produces 201 hp and 230 Nm of torque.
As befits the car’s younger target market, the animated ad depicts an adrenaline-filled race between Civic Si sedan and coupe and a slew of rather nasty-looking monster machines in a sort of comic book universe. It’s pretty cool, and the ending is particularly explosive.
In an attempt to address criticism surrounding this year’s model, the Honda Civic gets a facelift and update for the next model year in the US, only 1.5 years after the ninth-gen car’s unveiling there. More information on the changes can be found in an earlier post, and an exhaustive gallery of pictures here.

What does a 2.4l engine NA engine need to have to satisfy you?
Have to use comic advert because the real life Civic can’t do any of the stunts in the advert. :-)
they just copy from GT-R, comic, yes.
Hahaha.. Good one Rulered..
mice video clip, excellent art direction!
I second that, at least we know the Civics looks better in animation.
Anything with a upright H badge, or a curve crossed a oval will be criticized with extreme prejudice in Malaysia.
Sad…….
This is one of possibly many 2013 Civic adverts (1 car variant, 1 advert) for North American market alone.
pathetic horse power for a 2.4l engine,…turbo charged 2.0l can pump out at least 218hp
Chill peeps we won’t be getting this in malaysia. The japs probably thought americans likes engine with big capacity so they just threw in an extra 400cc.
Where do you want to stunt and fly? On our Malaysian highways? Our highest speed limit is 110/120km/hr. Further more our highways quality and safety are not of the European highways standard, not even close to the highways in China or the middle east! Just Be prepared to be a regular customer to AES! My friend regretted buying his Sirrocco VW! Where to fly?
Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Well, all advertisement are there to excite you, take the Moutain Dew advert, do you think people are stupid enough to do that. I do agree that our Highways are lagging behind the Europeans in planning, not sure of China(all I know there are many sink holes) and depends which part of the middle east.
If you cannot drive your car fast, than at least drive your car fun. This is the only sector where the Japanese can win. The Mazda MX-5, The Type-R and the latest GT-86 and BRZ. They are all not to break the speed limit, but put it on a curvy course, like the hill going up Berjaya hill resort and It puts a smile in your face.
Sad to say many of these car, though affordable in foreign countries, is waaaay above my budget. This is why I dislike people bragging about their displeasure on Japanese cars and following the herd mantality. The cars are good, not great, is only in Malaysia that the price is that high. If you dislike the cars, dislike it, don’t put your hate on the owners who bought using their hard earn cash and even if you think they make a mistake, don’t go calling them useless. A person opinion should be limited to an object not a person[unless it’s politics :)]
Anyways, Did you really think Honda wants us to do stunts and fly? Its an advert. IT’s showing their cars are fun
Probably my last incomplete sentence leads you to think that I hate or ridicule owners of any particular car!It was my friend who asked me, where can he ‘fly’ with this powerful car that can rams 0-100km/hr in a matter of seconds. By the way I don’t hate nor love any particular car, I only hates drivers who drives any car Recklessly! To prove this point (not bragging!) I also own a national car, a Japanese car and a Hyundai, maybe a conti if I needed one! That’s why I don’t even bother about RV, if I love & with Active and Passive Safety specs for uphills , downhills and cornering and can afford it and need one, I just buy it. So there is no hate, no ridicule from me to any owners of any particular car!. On Martin Luther King, Jr’s quote: Everyone experienced that in life, sometimes in different places and different situations including Martin himself, unless he is God.
Sorry I did’t meant you, just saying. I think I left that out. Really sorry.
The stupidity part is for you to know than no one is going to take their cars to jump off cliff. As a student in this field ,I know and advertisement is to make the maximum and sometimes exaggerated visual to make sure a products capability is to impress viewers.
To say, as quote from you, Where do you want to stunt and fly? On our Malaysian highways? Our highest speed limit is 110/120km/hr. I got the impression that you are taking it way too literally.
where can you do 0-100kph?. well, not bragging, I’am kinda young and maybe reckless, I usually see how fast I can change gears to get my Saga to 100kph after entering a toll, perfecting my gear shift every time. When I say this you probably think I’am racing. No, when overtaking in a manual car, I have to make sure my gear shift is flawless. call it an unorthodox way of practicing.
As for the part on car owners, that was when I was actually expressing my thoughts.
And from the way you put it. China and middle east have better roads than europe? seriously? Anyways…
My first vehicle was a Suzuki GP125 motorbike. Then saved enough to buy a 120Y Datsun…with a ‘chimpanzee backside’ as they call it. Not too sure you heard about them! I too love the gear changed….when younger. I am still young by the way!
So people who bought Ferrari’s are regretting it now ?
Since when AES dictated what car people should buy ?
this advert make me wanna sell my 2 yrs old forte and jumpship again..arghh
is the si coming to malaysia?
