These latest spyshots are of the next-generation Mazda CX-9, caught testing in San Bernardino, USA. It is rumoured that the all-new CX-9 SUV will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
This new seven-seat model clearly got its inspiration from the CX-5 and the CX-3, with a healthy dose of the ‘Kodo’ spirit. It’s quite evident from the muscular beauty that is on display despite the full-body camouflage. Sleek, athletic and poised for the grocery run, this new CX-9 is sure to be quite a looker.
In terms of its powertrain, rumours are abound that the CX-9 will ditch its existing Ford-derived V6 engines for a more modern turbocharged version of Mazda’s SkyActiv petrol engines. A turbocharged 2.5 litre SkyActiv engine, perhaps?

isnt 2016 is too late for Kodo design?
the first kodo was cx-5 which came out around 2012..
When CX-9 with Kodo in 2016, the cx-5 will be 4th year and soon will be replaced with another non-kodo design..
The Kodo design will hopefully stau for some more years. The CX-3 and the MX-5 show how this concept can evolve.
Turbo skyactiv? Interesting..
