Following the introduction of the locally-assembled (CKD) 2016 Mazda CX-5 facelift, we now bring you some showroom shots of the SUV in its 2.5L 2WD configuration for your viewing pleasure.
As we’ve previously detailed, the facelifted Mazda CX-5 sees minor changes to keep the C-segment crossover fresh. Therefore, the front sees the introduction of a new five-bar grille, flanked by automatic LED headlights (with Adaptive Front-lighting System), LED DRLs and smaller LED fog lamps.
Along the sides, there are new 19-inch alloy wheels (with 225/55R19 tyres) that replace the 17-inch on the previous CBU units. Unfortunately, they are the same silver wheels that were on the pre-facelift 2.5 litre CKD model instead of the dual-tone units in other markets. Changes at the rear include new LED tail lights.
Inside, the CX-5 retains the same design as before. The biggest change here is the MZD Connect infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen and Commander Control knob. The infotainment system features a variety of inputs (USB, AUX, Bluetooth and CD), and has a navigation function as well.
Luxuries include electric-powered seats (available on the driver’s side only), along with automatic headlamps and wipers. Elsewhere, there is now a new silver dashboard trim (previously piano black), leather trim pieces (around the MZD Connect head unit) redesigned air-conditoning control switchgear, gear lever and an electronic parking brake.
Powering this facelifted CX-5 is a 2.5 litre SkyActiv-G direct-injected four-cylinder petrol engine, providing 184 hp at 5,700 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 3,250 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic (with selectable Sport mode), driving the front wheels. In Thailand, the 2.5 litre mill in the CX-5 has been dropped in favour of the 2.2 litre SkyActiv-D turbodiesel powerplant.
As for safety, the CX-5 maintains its six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, tyre pressure monitor, emergency stop signal, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and traction control. The suite is available across the entire model range.
The Mazda CX-5 2.5L 2WD is priced at RM154,766.70 (solid) and RM155,166.70 (metallic). A 4WD model is also available here, priced at RM166,266.70 (solid) and RM166,666.70 (metallic). When compared to the previous CBU model, the CKD versions are cheaper by more than RM10,000.
For those looking at the 2.0L model, two variants are offered – GL and GLS, with the former priced at RM128,375.50 (solid) and RM128,775.50 (metallic), and the latter, RM142,375.50 (solid) and RM142,775.50 (metallic). All prices quoted here are on-the-road without insurance, and comes with a three-year warranty and three-year free maintenance.

Ugly interior, no surprise compare to previous version
I thought it was a GW Haval M4
Does this car have EEV status? Or the 2.0 have EEV status? We Malaysians are confused. Government flip flop. BMW 320i given EEV status but BMW 520i which uses same engine got no EEV status.
Cannot understand our BN Government. Bangla Nasional (BN) should be clear what constitute EEV.
Why new generation of Vios still dun have VSC ?
Toyotaik should be clear of what moving forward means
who gives a damm about toyota. if i dont like toyota i can choose to buy honda or peugeot . but if i dont like BN can i choose to pay my taxes to PR ?
Gaylord’s ultimate transport.
Should have update the interior to be in line with the other current mazda models
Malaysian car distributors always short change buyer. comparing our madza spec here and Thailand, our spec are more inferior (less), not only that, its more expensive too..
When will we ever learn to boycott this ?
When thai price is same as US price.

Actually Thai have to pay more than Bolehland for CX-5… just read Thai launch article couple of days ago..
