Proton’s December 2017 year-end promo offers five years free maintenance or up to RM8,000 rebate

Proton’s December 2017 year-end promo offers five years free maintenance or up to RM8,000 rebate

More good deals from the annual year end sales, this time from Proton. The local carmaker’s “Bigger Deals Better Buys” campaign is valid in December 2017 and is for selected models only – the ad shows the Saga, Persona and Iriz.

Like Honda Malaysia’s year-end promo, there’s a choice to be made here. Proton is dangling five years of free maintenance or savings of up to RM8,000. Basically, it’s a choice between taking the savings now or saving progressively over five years of ownership.

Launched in September 2016, the Saga is priced from RM37k to RM46k. The larger Persona surfaced one month earlier than the Saga last year, and retails from RM46k to RM60k. The Iriz is the sole hatchback option here – updated in June, it goes for RM44k to RM59k.

Why can’t Proton give the rebate RM8k the whole year round?

After all Proton was created to give cheap cars to Malaysians.

And it is because of Proton that all car prices have gone up 700% since 1986.

In 1985 Toyota Corolla in Malaysia was RM20k
In 2017 Toyota Corolla in Malaysia is RM139k
    That is 700% increase

But in Japan, the same Toyota Corolla has only gone up 40% in price from 1985 to 2017

So, Proton should stick to the idea of giving Malaysians cheap cars. If you can give RM8k rebate, means, you are still making profit despite giving RM8k rebate.

Sorry to tell U this P1. Your vehicles line up is NOT tempting enuff for M’sian not to mention the dated looks compare to your competitors. When is P1 updating their cars with Led headlights/back lights for goodness sake ??!

dont know how Proton can give so much of rebate. Last year Proton CEO said they only make RM500 profit from each car they sold.

Now, if they are giving RM8000 rebate, this would mean they will be losing RM7500 per car if what the Proton CEO say is true….they only make RM500 per car sold

So according to you, P1 will lose money if they sell every car now. They will also lose money if they don’t sell. Habis la like that.

P1 has been lying to the rakyat left right and center. This is why nobody buys their cars. Everybody buy Malaysian but Perodua.

We Malaysians are patriotic. But we only support honest local car companies like Perodua

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 2 Thumb down 6
  • Basically once bought, no need spend anymore on the car for next 5 years (except fuel). That will definitely help those from lower income or fresh grads.
    Well played P1, well played.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 2 Thumb down 0
      • If they can afford it, why not? And its basically maintenance charges free for 5 year. Then the savings that they made can be used to repay PTPTN. Isnt that a win(grad) win(P1) win(PTPTN) win(new loaners) for all?

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 2
          • Big IF? Not really. The fallacy in ur argument propositioned that no other external factors will influence their decision, which is incongruous to reality.

U din factor in parents that can buy the car, or fresh grads working while studying or a high achiever scoring a well paying job.

Of cuz if they have a choice not to buy then its better, but if they left with little choices, a P1 is their best bet.

Nobody buys Proton. Infact 80% of Proton’s total sales goes to Government orders.

The remaining 20% is sold to Government servants cause their car loans say, they MUST take Proton to get that special interest rate.

If rm8k is spread over 5 years, that equals to around rm1600 cost of maintenance anually. Quite expensive for a local car brand.

Proton management’s desperate attempt to remain afloat.
P&L bleeding but hoodwink with impressive sales numbers.
Long term sustainability is in dire unless they can fast track with newer models + engines.
Buyers are smart + just don’t wanna be trapped (9 years) with an obsolete + low RV car once the new range is introduced.

    • If P1 giving 8000 diskaun is desperate attempt, then what does Honda giving 15000 diskaun and toyota giving 7000 diskaun, means?

Honda has enough profit margin to justify
        the discount given.
        They are a global player.
        Likewise the Toyota branding.
        Who is P1 ? Juara kampung ?
        ….not.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 6 Thumb down 4
        • Then based on ur logic, toyota is just as deperate to remain relevant, and honda is in even worse position than P1 lah?

Please read and understand carefully! “UP TO”MYR8000 !!!
Perdana discount 8K, you want? Proton has demanded all supplier to reduce their parts price by 20%. That the saving proton get after new management! So, Proton share the saving to customer, that the right move!

Wait a year until you see how much proton save in R&D cost! By then you will agreed, R&D that cost billions there is actually “Rehat & Duduk”

Also change meter cluster but every time will missed out water temperature gauge (if want to look modern, a bar display is always welcomed compared with normal analogue gauge in old Myvi, but definitely not blue and red icon which looks like shit, even with new Myvi)
