GST zero-rated: Renault prices down by up to RM12k

In line with the government’s decision to set the goods and services tax (GST) at 0% from 6% on June 1, TC Euro Cars (TCEC) has released updated pricing for its Renault models. Customers who do want to purchase a Renault need not wait until that date, as TCEC will absorb the current 6% GST for vehicles registered with immediate effect.

Without GST, savings range from RM6,745 for the Fluence, up to RM11,763 for the Koleos 2.5L 4WD. TCEC is also offering additional incentives ranging from RM7,349 to RM33,255, allowing customers to enjoy total savings of up to RM40,000. For instance, the pre-facelift Captur is offered with more savings compared to the facelifted model.

The zero-rated GST prices include a five-year/unlimited mileage warranty, and for the Captur, the 5-in-Captur aftersales package. “This is a great time to buy a Renault. We strongly encourage those looking for a stylish, vehicle with continental quality and safety standards to take advantage of this tax-holiday plus our additional incentives,” said Kuan Kim Luen, CEO of TCEC.

There may be slight variations in the percentage of reduction, which is typically slightly less than 6% flat. This is because 6% GST is only applied on the selling price of a car (and in the case of CBU models, a Puspakom inspection fee), before GST-free registration essentials such as road tax, registration fee and ownership endorsement fee are added on.
