BMW Operating System 7.0 gets its first OTA update

Owners of BMWs running on Operating System 7.0 can now ensure that their vehicles’ systems are kept up to date with the automaker’s Remote Software Upgrade. the first upgrade for all markets (where ConnectedDrive is available) includes the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, which comprises a set of functions that can be expanded automatically over the air.

The Remote Software Upgrade brings vehicle-specific content such as extensions for driver assistance functions including active cruise control and side collision protection, and the BMW ConnectedDrive Store will enable owners to source and activate additional functions within their BMW, and depending on the vehicle’s specification, may be possible from their home, via a mobile device or from within the car itself.

The over-the-air software updates ensure that the system’s functionality is continually improved, BMW says. The additional functions can be updated Meanwhile, the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant’s additional functions can be activated for newer models such as the G20 3 Series, G05 X5 and the G15 8 Series.

Currently, BMW models that are available with BMW OS 7.0 include the new F40 1 Series, 3 Series, G11/G12 7 Series LCI, 8 Series, X5, G07 X7 and G29 Z4.
