2019 Proton Saga facelift – spec-by-spec comparison

The 2019 update for the third-generation Proton Saga has just been launched, and in keeping with the theme of accessibility, the latest iteration of the Saga arrives in three variants – Standard MT, Standard AT and Premium AT.

All are powered by a 1,332 cc naturally aspirated inline-four cylinder petrol engine producing 95 PS at 5,750 rpm and 120 Nm at 4,000 rpm, with the base model employing a five-speed manual transmission while the Standard AT and Premium AT send drive to the front wheels via a Hyundai four-speed torque converter automatic gearbox – this replaces the previously used CVT. Fuel capacity across all three variants is 40 litres.

On the safety front, the 2019 Saga Standard MT gets as standard dual airbags, ABS with electronic brake distribution and brake assist, rear ISOFIX child seat anchors and rear parking sensors. From the base variant, the Standard AT and Premium AT builds further upon its kit list.

Pity, in 2019, our Proton has no VSC. Pity Proton has no regard for our lives. Only people who can afford the Premium can have a safer Saga

Omg…the Hyundai gearbox is the same 4 speed auto supplied to Kia Picanto.
I know of a Kia picanto driver having a nightmare. The gearbox konk just after warranty expired.
Naza charge rm 25 k for a replacement!!.Most recond gear box specialists do not make this type of recon gearbox.
Proton should have got the… auto gear from Aisin, japan…Dr.Li…your mistake.

Proton always blame others for their own failure. Last time, they even blamed the RAKYAT for not being patriotic enough

I’m not sure how bad is the Proton CVT but i will see a big compromise technically to revert back to ancient 4AT in fact CVT had been introduced since Saga FLX. Is it really that bad or people just can’t accept/appreciate the smooth running behaviour of CVT? I’m driving Nissan Xtronics CVT and i love it, i don’t believe the Proton CVT is way too bad compare to it.

Not bad.. Just cheap built compares to other brand carrying cvt gearbox.. Proton use single clutch cvt.. Computer need to determine the exact time to engage/disengage clutch based on throttle input.. Others use torque converter cvt.. Which both torque converter and cvt are pricey.. For ppl understand how clutch works, proton cvt is not a big issue..

Why use 6AT or 8AT anyway when you got so little power to use them. Just stick to the basic and cheap for Saga, other more powerful car get others.

Hmm saga premium 5k cheaper than the bezza premium X. If only comes with timing chain engine and semi leather seat then will be perfect.

Bezza 45k premium X no VSC, adv 50k the idle start stop are useless.

Change back to 4AT is a right move.

    45k can get a 3~5 years secondhand vios E.

Punch cvt also salah, Hyundai 4at also salah. Proton should sell a saga shell with old kancil 660 engine and Mercedes 8 speed G-Tronic just to get to the price point. Forget leather interior. Can’t even put car seat now. Want DCT for a 32.8k car. Wah Malaysian demand.

If you tried to read those critical comments (while avoiding their eye cancer), you can see a pattern where it really just comes from envious Perodua salesmen. Earlier they were harping on Punch CVT now Proton has changed, they continue to harp about it, ignoring the fact that their ow CVT takes eons to shift gears.

This is by far the greatest saga we can buy right now! try think from the first gen till now.. its a great deal honestly. The lowest spec are for pigi balik kerja type, the high spec are for daily – weekend family friendly type. I like it very much
