VIDEO: 2016 Honda Accord facelift gets showcased

The new Honda Civic isn’t the only car that deserves attention during the 2016 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS). Its larger, D-segment brother – the facelifted Accord – also made its debut there, and it is being showcased in this new ad spot.

The 60-second video certainly has some attractive visuals, before focusing on the car itself, detailing the various changes that have been done to it. As a brief recap, the new Accord features a new front grille, full LED headlamps (with DRLs), LED fog lamp enclosures and a revised bumper that make up the brand’s Solid Wing Face design.

Elsewhere, there is a more muscular hood design, while the mildly redesigned rear features three LED light bars that now make up the new tail lamp design. Chrome trim elements that “go into” the front and rear lamp units are also part of the update.

Inside, the cabin retains its familiar layout, including the double-screen centre stack. The top screen serves as a display for the new i-MID (Intelligent Multi Information Display), while the bottom screen is a 7.5-inch touchscreen unit for infotainment purposes. Other notable updates include a revised instrument cluster and trim changes that combine wood panel and gloss black elements.

Available in a sole 2.4L VTi-L variant, the refreshed Accord retails at Rp. 635 million (RM188,108) in Indonesia. Power continues to come from a 2.4 litre Earth Dreams i-VTEC DOHC four-cylinder petrol engine, providing 174 hp and 225 Nm, mated to a five-speed auto.

Touted as “the visionary car” in the video, the Accord facelift was first unveiled in the US last year. Several months after, the sedan was launched in Thailand, and now, in Indonesia as well. For us here in Malaysia, the new Accord is expected to be one of two new CKD models destined for a local introduction soon.

Still using the ancient 5-speeder, just 174 hp & 225Nm? Why no USA specs on our shore? This is truly an uncle’s car now.
Not a Camry fan before but now seriously looking at the Camry Hybrid, every bid more superior in term of sophistication, performance, comfort and fuel consumption Sam Loo might just finally has the last laugh.

Agree, i’m not a Camry fan too.

But seriously if compare with the rival Camry, I would say Camry 2.5V wins. In terms of technology (mature hybrid technology), performance, comfort (Toyota’s selling point). Outlook wise, it’s subjective.
