Proton Edar opens upgraded Chan Sow Lin 4S centre

Another day, another upgraded Proton showroom gets launched, as the national carmaker continues its wholesale refurbishment of its sales and service network. The Chan Sow Lin branch is actually the first one operated by the company’s own distributor Proton Edar to get a facelift, following in the footsteps of several revamped franchise outlets.

The existing 4S centre, covering an area of 14,875 square feet, has been refreshed with a new look to comply with Proton’s new standard for 4S category outlets. It now wears a new light blue colour scheme as part of the company’s revised corporate identity introduced in June. Inside, there are “lifestyle” wall graphics and a “lively and youthful” colour scheme that Proton says is representative of a modern day outlet.

There’s also a lounge area with an expanded seating area, plus coffee-making facilities, a play area for kids, a prayer room and free WiFi. Meanwhile, on the sales and service end, there are 18 service hoists and a two-car delivery bay, along with 53 customer parking bays.

Proton claims that with the upgraded facilities, the Chan Sow Lin outlet, which is said to be situated around a busy commercial area surrounded by showrooms from other carmakers, will see a 30% increase in sales and service throughput. It adds that as of end-July, it has approved 93 outlets to upgrade to 3S and 4S centres, which is 85% of its target of 109 outlets by the end of October.

The new Proton Edar 4S outlet will be open seven days a week for both sales (8:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday to Saturday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sundays and public holidays) and service (8:00 am to 5:15 pm Monday to Sunday, closed on public holidays).

If follow your logic, isn’t your Perodua also tumpang glamour and hard work from Toyota/Daihatsu? Almost everything came from Toyota/Daihatsu except the styling. Name one thing that Perodua invented itself for their cars. No, that Bluetooth tyre pressure monitoring system doesn’t count because Perodua bought it from China manufacturer.

        • P2 bought that from Lazada, rebranded it, and sold at 3x markup prices.

        • Probably during the early days Perodua would tumpang at Daihatsu/Toyota. Now their brand stand on their own. Unlike sales person will tell you …
Perdana launching – “Better get it now because this first batch is essentially Honda Accord”.
Ertiga launching – “Better get it now because first batch is from Suzuki”.
Inspira launching – “Better get it now because this is original Lancer, only change logo to Proton”.

The coming months when the SUV launching – “Better get now… this is relative of Volvo and Mercedes.”

“Everybody buys Perodua Myvi. It uses a pure Toyota Vios engine. In other words, it is 100% a Toyota and for just RM50k, it is the easy way of owning a Toyota.”

Geely Design’s Guy Burgoyne himself said Proton will play a big role in international product design.

Proton also send thousands of engineers for for training and development.

Proton tumpang Geely’s glamour you said? It is Geely that wants to use Proton’s workforce, otherwise they wouldn’t bother taking them in.

Who the bloody hell are to think you’re smarter than 267th biggest Fortune 500 Company?

Honda is sacrificing quality over quantity for their CKD models. That will come back to haunt Honda sooner or later.
Geely took over when Proton was in a bad shape, so naturally more time is needed to rectify problems but so far the progress seems to be mostly positive.

      • Honda sacrificing quality…. ?
These global brands are selling by millions of cars a year, not 50000 units. You think dont know how to manage their quality? Even Toyota or VW at their lowest point are still having better quality than Proton.

  • The upgrading of their own Edar centers to 3S/4S augurs well to show their dealers that its not just them who r carrying this upgrading burden but P1 as well. Gud that P1 is now following the global trend of serving their customers under 1 roof. But they must hurry and get the rest ready within 2 months cuz Boyue incoming soon.

I remember when I was working as a young exec for the service operation department at EON, back then this was EON Berhad flagship outlet. EON staff prepared for the grand launching day & night, only to find out weeks after, EON branches to be given to Proton Edar under DRB rationalisation programme.

    Talking about tumpang glamour..

Can improved facilities bring improved CSI score for proton next year? It won’t if there is no attitude change.
