During the prize presentation ceremony of the final round of the Proton 1-Tank Adventure, the first national carmaker also revealed an updated version of its six-seat Ertiga MPV called the Ertiga Xtra.

The Ertiga Xtra will be available in three variants as before, starting with the Executive MT priced at RM56,773 on-the-road without insurance. Next up is the Executive AT at RM59,525 followed by the range-topping Premium AT for RM62,278.

The last variant replaces the previous Executive Plus AT, and compared to the previous line-up of Ertiga variants, the Ertiga Xtra range costs around RM3,000 more per variant than before.

Updates on the Ertiga Xtra are limited to the interior, where there is now a darker shade of brown for the fabric seats. The previous 2-DIN head unit has also been replaced with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system on all variants, although only the Premium gets a navigation function.

Beyond those changes, the rest of the kit list appears to be unchanged from before. All variants come fitted with 15-inch alloy wheels (wrapped with 185/65 profile tyres), halogen headlamps, front fog lamps, manual air-conditioning with rear vents and four speakers (Premium still gets two extra tweeters).

Safety-wise, all variants get dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchors on the second row. Electronic stability control remains unavailable as before.

The powerplant remains the same too, with the 1.4 litre litre naturally-aspirated DOHC VVT petrol engine that makes 91 hp at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Depending on the selected variant, you’ll either get a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.
