During the prize presentation ceremony of the final round of the Proton 1-Tank Adventure, the first national carmaker also revealed an updated version of its six-seat Ertiga MPV called the Ertiga Xtra.
The Ertiga Xtra will be available in three variants as before, starting with the Executive MT priced at RM56,773 on-the-road without insurance. Next up is the Executive AT at RM59,525 followed by the range-topping Premium AT for RM62,278.
The last variant replaces the previous Executive Plus AT, and compared to the previous line-up of Ertiga variants, the Ertiga Xtra range costs around RM3,000 more per variant than before.
Updates on the Ertiga Xtra are limited to the interior, where there is now a darker shade of brown for the fabric seats. The previous 2-DIN head unit has also been replaced with a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system on all variants, although only the Premium gets a navigation function.
Beyond those changes, the rest of the kit list appears to be unchanged from before. All variants come fitted with 15-inch alloy wheels (wrapped with 185/65 profile tyres), halogen headlamps, front fog lamps, manual air-conditioning with rear vents and four speakers (Premium still gets two extra tweeters).
Safety-wise, all variants get dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchors on the second row. Electronic stability control remains unavailable as before.
The powerplant remains the same too, with the 1.4 litre litre naturally-aspirated DOHC VVT petrol engine that makes 91 hp at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Depending on the selected variant, you’ll either get a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
This will need to soldier on until SX11 comes in.
Such a disgrace. Our own National car company cannot give us VSC.
VSC was made compulsory by law in the whole of EU more than 10 years ago. This is because VSC is so important. It is like a car not having safety belts. Wajib to have safety belts and VSC
Pity Malaysians kena tipu over and over again.
And yet, the same car in Japan has VSC and more than 6 airbags as standard.
Looks like Proton is taking our lives for granted and not demanding VSC and minimum 6 airbags
Tak ada erti langsung
Blame Jepunis overlord. Ur Alza oso got no ESC or 6airbags apa mau cakap?
Kenapa kerajaan dulu tak buat undang undang supaya semua kereta ada ESC?
Kenapa kerajaan sekarang tak buat undang undang supaya semua kereta ada ESC?
Most buyers who buy Ertiga got 6 kids including abah and ibu.
How such a small engine with 91 hp can pull abah, ibu and 6 kids?
How? Because you never sat in one before.
Its the 130 Nm will pull it though
I thought after july 2018 all new car sold in msia must have stability control ? Even paultan posted this article before.
Well, our National car maker has been cheating us for many years.
Remember when PRoton gave us airbags? That was like 10 years later after Japanese brands gave us airbags.
When P2 gave us airbags? Only when P1 gave first.Malu betul for celup jepunis company
Ay? If you’re talking about Wira and older, then obviously duh no airbags.
Look at Preve and later models. All got more airbag mah.
Change gov so whatever said last time not valid alredi lor
Whatever govt masih juga tak laku.
Pipu buy P2 coz it is cheap not because it is good
Still selling Manual Trans for this type of vehicle..? Misplaced priorities.
I don’t know why the management of Proton cannot ask Suzuki why the Ertiga in Japan got more than 2 airbags and VSC but the Ertiga in Malaysia got no VSC
Looks like our highly paid CEOs and management in Proton don’t know how to demand safety from the Japanese.
After all PRoton is paying few hundred million ringgit in royalty to Suzuki. Money which comes from the rakyat.
Sigh. More fake news for that peddler of nonsense again. Since when Ertiga is sold in Nippon wei? So everything else u said is bollocks.
So why alza dun have VSC? Peloton no jepunis share inside but P2 got one. Why ar?
What nonsense are you talking about? Not to back up Proton, but here are my thoughts:
First, Ertiga was never sold in Japan, it is Asean products, much more alike Toyota Avanza, Innova, first gen Fortuner and its equivalent Hilux brother are never sold in Japan. Ertiga is either made in Indonesia or India, only the badge is from Japan.
Second, Ertiga never have installed any type of stability control. Even the Suzuki/Maruti Ertiga and the Mazda VX-1 does not equipped with VSC.
Third, due to the platform of Ertiga, VSC can not be installed due to high modification cost which makes it unsuitable for its class and price range.
This model was meant to be an alternative to those who wants an MPV, but does not want to purchase the bigger Exora. So installing VSC on a cheap car then bump up the price above the bigger Exora to cover up the modification cost is not really worth it.
If you want to talk about VSC, list of vehicles that are still being sold even though doesn’t have VSC includes Perodua Alza, Toyota Avanza, Nissan Grand Livina, and Nissan X-Gear. The Alza and the latter twin are overdue for replacement, but the Avanza? VSC on the Avanza is optional but Malaysian model doesn’t equipped with forementioned safety system. Other vehicle sold in Malaysia may or may not have VSC too due to the inadequate vehicle data from the manufacturer and salesperson.
when a neighboring country gets a all new ertiga. Malaysia still survives with a old ertiga
Sorry Proton. Im waiting for a new national car project..
Proton, Perodua, Toyota > all
ALZA.. no more!
x-tra boring, x-tra wrong price, x-tra cheap upgrades, x-tra failure. who is in charge of proton again…..?
Jepunis donor cars must be boring if not P2 cannot sell one
Black grill, darker fabric & 7inch touch screen for 3000 more. What? I mean, what??.. So sad.
Suppose to make national car more value buy.. i though this family car should be fun and comfort to drive especially with small kids at back.. hmm.. instead black grill.. should make more airbags and white led at front (day-time light) or put lcd tv at back.. watch upin ipin or didi n friends..
No ESC? So this car is not a safe car. Please avoid. Under cinaman also proton never learn. Jilaka..
Many pipu still buy Alza a lot more than ertiga+ ezora combine.
Of course Suzuki allows the changes. They already have all new ertiga
I wonder how many dare to buy this model after all Proton’s relationship with Suzuki is going to end with Geely in the picture. Ask anyone how long one have to wait to get replacement parts.
It is not like all part imported..lol
Even cheap P2 easy to get parts but with harga meninggal. Viva side mirror ady rm2xx. Memang meninggal.
Why not slap in a turbo as well?
Who will pay an old re-badge Suzuki that cost from RM56,773 to the range-topping Premium AT for RM62,278 OTR without insurance??
Isn’t the Exora better value wise!! It is bigger & have 1.6 liter with turbo(option). I’m talking between P1 MPV here.
Asal bukan peloton katanya but deep inside………..
No ESC? Walao this is 2018. But we must raise taxes to protect Malaysians from milo-tin foreign cars.
Suzuki MY gotta bring in the new Swift real fast!
What suzuki MY…? They are out of the country for years already… so the only new suzuki u can buy today is this ertiga…
Ýup, he should be asking Suzuki to come back to Malaysia first and then PROMISE to buy more Suzuki cars. Otherwise, they won’t come back if they can only sell a handful of cars. Doesn’t make economic sense. We all want to see many brands here but we do not have the courage to give them a chance, always say neighbouring countries have this and that but when those brands come here, we stick to only Toyota and Honda and Perodua. Support those small, seemingly weak brands with seemingly weak aftersales. Only with support by buying more of their cars can they build up their network and aftersales strength and give back to customers. If you want more brands here, stop being so skeptical and start buying those brands products. Otherwise, just be content with whatever is sold here now
rm3000 ugrades?mmm………..
Still two airbags for a six seater car. Come on Malaysia! The other 4 lives not so important meh?? Perodua Alza also same story. Smh.
no need air bags..we die like real man
Salahan Jepunis lords.
Dont blame the Japs. Blame the bodohs running Proton who don’t know how to negotiate and demand safer cars for the rakyat.
Speak for urself. Ur Alza still no ESC nor more than 2 airbags.
Oh dear it’s still fitted with the engine rigged to pass emission test from Suzuki…
this car is dangerously slow when overtaking … still exist in 2019..
Iyoyo, Indon has launched the 1.5cc new Ertiga with ESC and our proton keep updating the old model including the Accord Perdana and Campro old engine.
How to complete??
Indon? It is Suzuki and new gen of course easy to add gadgets
Proton has no choice. No more collaboration with Suzuki. Hmm I thought you should know this already since you’re reading in this site. No more collaboration with Honda also and here’s another thing; BOTH Suzuki and Honda do not allow Proton to give you better cars. Proton is not allowed to develop and equip it with ESC, not allowed to develop with other features that would make those cars more current and in keeping with Proton’s own developed models. Just saying so that you guys know more of the story instead of blindly making remarks. As fr the Campro, well, wait for it. Geely will make changes but those can’t happen over night
What the #ell was DRB-HICOM thinking when they went to Suzuki? This decision ranks as low as the decision to market the Juara.
So this is what Proton can do after being protected for almost 35 yrs. Tell me Dr M, how will your 3rd national car project be any different?
Speaking of national car, I think Malaysia must be the only country in the world where there are 3 gov backed national car brands… Other countries, even if they do have, usually 1 brand only.
Even China…their car brands are pte and not gov supported.
After 35 years sinjapork still dun have built passenger car
They at least have a clear policy towards transportation in general that doesn’t change seasonally!
Yawn…..
Memalukan!!!
Geely took over n yet they are still carrying on with these stupid updates….
No front n rear bumper change…
No leather seats…
No push start…
No rear entertainment system..
No new wheel arch designs…
No extra body kit…
Just changes the stupid headunit n named it extra..
Bodoh..
you can buy honda odesey i you afford..
I do have an Alphard as my family car bro.. Thts not the point here…
What im trying to say is, why do Proton names a car ‘xtra’ but they aren’t anything so extra about it….
In this land of diminishing returns, extra lint is also extra charge… One still has to finance the leakages, no?
You can’t expect overnight changes…it just doesn’t work that way. Change will come and there are many phases. Just wait. You’ll see those changes but not now. To be realistic, to put in place new systems, new lines for new products takes time. So does new procurement and testing systems etc. Doesn’t happen with a magic wand or a snap of fingers. So do keep your thoughts open on this and try at best not to be so shallow please.
The spec is very fine for the price. The only thing that keep me off (and maybe many others too) from buying this is there is no third seatbelt. When the third row is used for putting stuff, only 4 person can be on board, which beat the purpose of this spacious car. Why this one is not the upgrade?
well, all i can say on this Ertiga Xtra is just an Extra… lebih punya… waste resources
Shitty nonsense! But the name sounds better than wuling and dongfeng:)
Masih tiada reverse camera? Damnn
it is 2018 and Proton still hoping to sell 1.4L mpv-car making 91hp, headlight like proton Waja, no enhanced safety features and 4-speed autobox. what the hex Proton, u think this is 2004????
I have tested the car twice during launching and last month at Skudai JB show room, to be fair to Proton and Suzuki, this car is anytime meeting or may be above BRV and Sienta in terms of drivability, overall interior spacing + many more.. this a great piece of car given the price and spec.

please bring in new ertiga.
I have bought the car after waited for months to enjoy huge discount.. I m happy with the car for many aspects. Really surprised me a lot that proton can build such a fantastic car…. thanks Proton to let Malaysian chance to own this Suzuki model, without Proton the car may cost 90k…
I admit that Ertiga is a good car. IMHO, better than Alza or even BRV in terms of driving experience as a compact MPV. BUT, it is an old rebadged car, missing a lot of new technologies and feature. I’d wait for Geely’s era.
