Proton 1-Tank Adventure 2019 kicks off this weekend

Proton 1-Tank Adventure 2019 kicks off this weekend

The Proton 1-Tank Adventure is back for 2019, and this year’s edition is kicking off tomorrow and happening throughout the weekend. Like last year’s inaugural edition, participants will experience the sights, sounds and cuisine of Malaysia while trying to squeeze out as many kilometres possible from a tank of petrol.

Comprising three preliminary rounds and a grand final, the contest is offering over RM100,000 worth of prizes. Participants include owners of the 2019 Proton Iriz, Persona and Saga, as well as some celebrities and media members. We’ve assembled a paultan.org team and Hafriz Shah will be taking part – stay tuned for updates.

Last year, the event focused on routes in Peninsular Malaysia, but 2019 fuel efficiency competition will feature two rounds in East Malaysia – one each in Sabah and Sarawak. The grand final will see participants embark on a big journey from Kota Bharu to Johor Bharu using just a single tank of fuel!

As its name implies, the main aim of the competition is to demonstrate the real world fuel efficiency of Proton’s current range of cars. Participants will drive the Iriz, Persona and Saga over a variety of roads and traffic conditions to arrive at FC figures that Proton says can be replicated by other owners on a daily basis.

“Proton would like to demonstrate the efficiency of our cars by embarking on some epic journeys around the country. These figures won’t be obtained in a controlled environment but in driving conditions owners experience every day. Ultimately, we will prove the current range of Proton cars can deliver fuel economy figures that will help keep running costs low,” said Proton CEO Li Chunrong.

“We would like to use the 1 Tank Adventure to remind Malaysians there are many factors to consider when buying a car. Proton has updated its entire range in 2019 and this is a great opportunity to travel around the country to show everyone the result of our hard work. With revised styling, improved quality, better handling and ride comfort as well as higher equipment levels and value for money, we have models to suit every budget and need,” he added.

  • No challenge. Better to invite Perodua owners come along and see how many refills they need to complete the same journey.

There is a reason why everyone choose Perodua over Proton. It is because that game changing Perodua cars are well-known for their excellent FC thanks to high quality Toyota engine. Therefore, Perodua sales is always 4X more than Proton

Excellent comment bro! And also don’t forget that every game changing Perodua cars have high RV whereas Proton cars have poor RV. This is also why people prefer Perodua better than Proton

If what you said is true, why is Perodua losing much market share to Proton?

Misleading , FYI Perodua uses Daihatsu Engine not Toyota.

Daihatsu engine is powerless and hence all car body using Daihatsu engine must be made of Light weight Milo Tin body to achieve the performance and better FC .

Hence, overall Perodua are very dangerous cars on the road compare to Proton.

People who value safety chose Proton while Life of those are a bit cheaper will chose Perodua. This is based on observation and common people preference.

And, they’re also cheap cars, always remember the pyramid. Perodua makes cars that are for the bottom level firstly. Those from the higher income groups that buy Perodua are not as many as those who belong in the lowest segment. That segment prioritises low cost (hence, they value fuel efficiency above safety, comfort, handling etc.) above all and to a certain extent, many parts for them to mod and play (which Toyota and Daihatsu have). If you have that in mind, you’d understand why they sell so much more. Not so much of which is better. It is what suits the lowest segment better

If they can complete the journey rather than being an upside down turtle after trying to chase after other cars.

Have u ever seen a manufacturer do what u mentioned? Have P2 do such challenge? Ever wondered why?

Proton should concentrate more on their balance sheets and Profit and Loss accounts than having all these gimmicks and adventures.

Proton still does not seem to have any focus despite still losing RM4 million per day and have still not paid back all the grants and loans given to it from the Government.

Why not? This is a brilliant stroke of marketing. It speaks to the customers, it speaks to potential buyers, and it speaks for their engineering capabilities.

They are using customer cars so any expenses is just 1 full tank which is really cheap for a marketing gimmick. This is real world with real car testing so FC figures are real, unlike some other brand shiok sendiri FC 20km/L but in real world never come close. And unlike some shiok sendiri racing series gimmick, they are focused on real customer experiences and this helping to bring in new customers.

P2 trolls are worried, and I can see why. Keep it going Proton!

Proton still not paid the RM1.5 bil they borrowed in 2014 and the RM1.7 bil they borrowed in 2016.

Please pay back this amount. It is the rakyat’s money.

Belum kira the RM20 billion they have taken the past 20 years lagi. When is Proton going to pay all this money back?

        • Rm20Bil? Meh! Proton paid back and more when they reimbursed Rm25Bil in taxes. That is tax on profits, so Proton gross profits are even higher.

I own both a Perodua Myvi, 2008 model and a brand new Iriz.

I can confirm with you one thing. The Proton drinks petrol as if it has a 6750 CC Roll Royce Engine from the RR Phantom or the Rolls Royce Wraith.

Every forum confirms this. All Proton cars are gas guzzlers.

Yeah, the P2 troll happens to own an Iriz and it happens to be not as fuel efficient as his beloved Myvi. Let see who else other than your own dupes would believe this, tikus.

Proton salesman detected. Diminishing sales show that Proton cars are not wanted by Malaysians. Only Geelys X70 is worth buying.

This is no wonder, as p2’s body is made of tin milo. Less weight > better FC.
The downside is, that i.e. Alza’s tend to lose their rear axles and overturn.

With Proton, not only you use so much of fuel, you also lose with their RV.

Double whammy. Spend so much on fuel and see car depreciation falling like waterfall. Only car brand that after two years, the car becomes 60% less in price.
