The Road Transport Department’s (JPJ) latest registration data is out, and it’s starting to sound like a broken record (forgive the pun) for Perodua, whose Bezza-Axia-Myvi triumvirate stays glued to the 1-2-3 podium, selling 9,507, 7,625 and 6,533 units in November for year-to-date (YTD) sums of 91,453, 80,810 and 66,269 units respectively. Will the Bezza break 100k this year?
In fifth and sixth are the Alza (Nov 4,118, YTD nearly 40k) and Ativa (Nov 2,478, YTD 32,833). Aruz aside, which lags a long way behind in 14th (Nov 1,547, YTD 14,574), Sungai Choh’s chart-topping streak is bisected by Proton’s best-seller, the Saga, in fourth (Nov 5,436, YTD almost 64k).
You’ll find the next Proton in 10th – the X50 (Nov 1,873, YTD 20,386) is just ahead of the Honda HR-V in 11th (Nov 1,923, YTD 18,587) while the Toyota Corolla Cross is far down in 16th (Nov 700, YTD 12,687) because it’s transitioning to the KLIMS-launched facelift.
At 12th and 13th are Protons Persona (Nov 1,394, YTD 17,311) and S70 (Nov 1,301, YTD 17,235), some way away from Toyota’s and Honda’s champions, the Vios (Nov 2,742, YTD 25,647) and City (Nov 2,130, YTD 24,887) at seventh and eighth. Note that the City’s numbers include the hatchback, whereas the Vios is separate from the Yaris, which is all the way down in 19th (Nov 945, YTD 9,398). Apples to apples, it’s 35,045 Toyota Vios/Yaris versus 24,887 Honda City sedan/hatchback.
Toyota’s runner-up is the ninth-placed Hilux (Nov 2,177, YTD 22,094), Malaysia’s best-selling pick-up truck by miles, because no other pick-up truck made the list. The third Toyota is the Alphard (Nov 1,276, YTD 14,027) in 15th, including reconditioned units and excluding Vellfires. That’s more sold than the Corolla Cross, Honda Civic (17th, Nov 1,298, YTD 11,572) and Honda CR-V (18th, Nov 751, YTD 10,379).
Perodua and Honda are the only carmakers with their entire range in the top 20 (yes, Type R falls under Civic). P2’s total is now 325,898 – a whisker away from its record 330,325 units last year – which means it needs to sell some 27,000 cars this month to hit its 353,000-unit goal for 2024. With less than 30 days to go before 2024 says goodbye – will Malaysia break another record with 800,000 new cars on the road?

Yeah but to be fair the best selling car in Malaysia, Perodua Bezza is engineered and developed by Malaysians in Malaysia. Don’t let your pettiness rotting your brain
Bro u live in what country? Since when bezza engine & other mechanical r&d developed in Malaysia? Get your fact right. All the tech r&d came from japan, malaysia just happen to install them to their own rebadge car..the engine itself was taken from toyota, & reproduced by daihatsu using low cost quality & material to enable the cars to be sell at low price.
Surprisingly no Proton X70 in top 20.
Wow..530k alphard is in the top 20..this is not recond data..newly imported cars..
“The third Toyota is the Alphard (Nov 1,276, YTD 14,027) in 15th, encompassing new and reconditioned units”
Are you blind?
new or recond doesn’t matter, the thing is our countrymen all have fetish for boxy van
if Honda City hatchback and City Sedan sales figure is split, what would it be like?
should Corolla Sedan and Cross sales figure to be combined too?
don’t forget to also add in GR corolla into Corollas as well, because: ” (yes, Type R falls under Civic). “
Entire in the top 20, so what? People buy them because they really like it or they have no other choice due to cheap? They accept these cars even though no quality. But since they bought these cars and they are majority, these owners just keep posting something positive about these car. They have no money to buy other “better” car and keep criticize the other cars!
Im shocked S70 C Segment lost to both Japanese B segment. Malaysian prefer true proton. Even hailat higher than X50. Do we really need geely as national car?
I can see “C-segment” sedan market leader, S70. Truly a leader.
Where is Nissan?
Patut lah jalan raya makin jam. Banyak kereta wo.
tu pasal geely jual jenama sendiri kat siam dgn indon. X70 pun tak lepas masuk top20, still kalah dengan CRV yg harga jauh lagi mahal. instead of focusing on kereta mahal (emas7, x70, x90), better focus on kereta murah dan jimat minyak, lawan la ativa tu, bawak masuk geely gx3 pro as X30 ataupun pengganti exora. sape je nak beli x90 yg harga mahal namatey tu
if car price cheap, who else wanna drive national car?
Proton S70 is underperforming for a new model. It should be higher up the list considering its position to fight Vios / City with a lower price.
Mazda pun tak masuk chart.
Tbf, there is no new Mazda priced below RM100k
