Response to the 2026 Proton Saga MC3 continues to swell, with the national automaker reporting that bookings for the sedan, which was launched on November 27 last year, has nearly reached the 100,000 unit mark. This comes a week after it announced that orders for the car had exceeded the 70,000 unit mark.
January 2026 was a good month for the brand, with the 19,833 units sold making for its best single-month result in 15 years. As it always has, the Saga led the line for the carmaker last month, with the 10,285 units sold not just making it the biggest contributor for the month, but also a record for the car, being an all-time high monthly record since the Saga nameplate was introduced.
The company added that over 19,000 units of the MC3 have been delivered since it was launched, equivalent to one unit being delivered every five minutes.
“The sales performance of the 2026 Proton Saga proves it has widespread appeal amongst Malaysian car buyers. Few OEMs have a model in continuous production for over 40 years, and even fewer set a new sales record after more than four decades, so this is an achievement Proton and all Malaysians can be proud of,” said Proton deputy CEO Datuk Abdul Rashid Musa.
The Saga MC3 is available in three variants, these being the Standard (RM38,990), the Executive (RM44,990) and the Premium (RM49,990). All models are powered by a new 120 PS/150 Nm 1.5 litre BHE15-CFN Intelligent Green Technology (i-GT) naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine, which is paired with either an Aisin four-speed automatic gearbox or a Punch CVT, the latter available only on the Premium.
Retaining the same basic structure as before but on a new Advanced Modular Architecture (AMA), the Saga MC3 has been comprehensively redesigned with new features such as LED lighting, dual displays for instrumentation and infotainment and, exclusive to the Premium, driver assist kit such as autonomous emergency braking and blind spot monitoring.

Considering the Bezza will be the same & sold until the next World Cup year, this model (& if the ‘Saga’ spinoff brand materialises) will be the beginning of the end of P2’s reign
People much said the same when S70 came out to tackle Vios but what happened now?
Those comparing this to the S70 vs. Vios are missing the point. The Vios survived because of a “premium badge” shield. The Bezza doesn’t have that—it’s a budget tool. When a better tool (the Saga) comes out for the same price, the old tool becomes obsolete.
Bezza production is still running at full capacity, and the order waiting list remains several months long. There’s no sign of it slowing down anytime soon.
With such good orders, we are unlikely to see a Minor Change (MC1) for at least 4-5 years
I don’t consider this as a minor change to the previous model. New engineer, new interior, new exterior…it should be an all new model. Hence the next change is MC1
Saga is matching Bezza’s entire sales figure for FY2025 in just a couple of months. Bye bye Bezza. You’ve been left in the dust.
That’s a crazy number!
Went to Penang Island today. Didn’t even see one new Saga. Of course, my is new Saga. Other makes are offering hefty discounts to many models to stop motorists heading to Proton showrooms.
Plenty of the new Saga on Sarawak roads. From my observation, most are the Executive model and most common colours I’ve come across are white and blue.
expecting ot see brand new car at ulu island ? plenty of new sagas already on the road of capital city KL
Seriously this car is a no-brainer.
Previously the only 2 advantages of Bezza were FC and RV but now FC is essentially the same for both cars and RV collapses for all cars, it is difficult to justify buying Bezza over Saga MC3.
It’s no brainer really.. for below 50k premium specs you get a new 1.5l engine, 6 airbags, ADAS, Apple/Android car play, leatherette seats, LED auto lights etc… it will sell like hot cakes for sure
More importantly, Proton need to make sure their factory can deliver on time without compromise on QC.If they get this right then the new MC3 will thrive.
