It’s been a long-drawn saga, but the finish line is within sight. The launch date of the 2026 Proton Saga MC3 has been confirmed to be November 27, and Proton is inviting everyone to watch it live on Facebook and Tiktok at 2.15 pm next Thursday.
We’ve been on the final straight since November 10, when order books for the new Saga opened. Since then, 10,000 names have been put down for the MC3, which has an indicative price range of between RM40k and RM50k.
You should be already very familiar with the latest Saga, more so if you were at the paultan.org ACE 2025 show earlier this month, where a camouflaged unit was available for everyone to touch, feel and sit in. We’ve covered the budget sedan extensively too, and you can dive deep into the sea of details here.
In a nutshell, the Saga MC3 gets a new 120 PS/150 Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine (NA, non-DI version of the X50 facelift’s motor), three variants (Standard, Exec, Premium), two types of automatic transmissions (4AT and CVT for the Premium) and a re-engineered platform (reinforced and now called AMA, four-star ASEAN NCAP).
Other highlights include a new face and tail (LEDs lights, finally), fresh dashboard with two digital displays housed in a single long frame (wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), up to six airbags and Level 1 ADAS from a monocular camera (Premium-only, two airbags/no ADAS for the rest).
Again, to learn more about the new Saga, you can go technical with us, discover the spec differences between Executive and Premium and read our brief drive impressions of the CVT-equipped Premium.
Even the launch package is out. Proton is giving one year of free service (or 20k km, parts and labour) plus a special edition Saga Touch n Go card to those who place a booking from now till the launch date The car must be registered before the year ends, and the offer is limited to 20,000 units.
The only thing left to be revealed at the launch – possibly by prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim – is the final price of the car, and perhaps an extension of the launch package. Finish line in sight!

Now all that remains is the pricing to be seen. If they get it right, it will be huge success…but…if they don’t, u know la what happens after.
Some P1 sales advisers are hinting or speculating that the cheapest Saga MC3 may retail at slightly more higher price than the cheapest Bezza 1.3 because the Saga has a bigger 1.5 engine & TFT display dashboard. However, P1 should remember that regardless what advanced or advantageous features they may put into this new Saga model, its status still remains at the entry level A-segment & therefore, it should be priced as such.
Not sure how many times Proton want to launch this new Saga… probably got some funds to waste.
How many times it happened in your head because the real launch haven’t happened in the real world.
Buy with piece of mind. You can go to any half-cut shop to get the door replacement from the outgoing old Saga.
With all the effort made to change almost every component of the Mk 4 Saga, its quiet sad to see Proton maintained the same exact door of Mk 3 when they can simply change the door skin (door inner frame remains) to make the car looks completely different than the revious one.
What is the internal difference between Mk3 and Mk4 doors other than interior design? Interesting for insurance claim.
with the 120 bhp from commie engine, b40 can smoke toyota vios which costs double the price
What weed you smoking?
Nice lamp on pictures. Seeing real car is really disappointing!! Saga boleh
Already test drove the exec variant. It’s not vios or city. Handling slightly lighter than the persona but better than any perodua except alza. Steering turn very unusual light, engine quieter than campro, throttle tuned very eco pickup response slow, low speed no jerk at all but not eager to move forward as the current cvt persona unless u press the gas pedal deeper.
The pricing? Pls refer to the current axia, it’s almost the same. Worth to buy or not, yeah it’s the cheapest 1.5l timing chain car without bugging eco idle outthere. Im buying 1 exec space grey.
The Saga MC3 should be competing directly against the Bezza 1.3 instead of the current generation Axia. With attractive pricing & a new 1.5L engine, the MC3 Standard 4AT has a chance to take away more of the market share from the Bezza 1.3X.
Malaysians tend to cross shop between segments, so a buyer will compare Axia to Saga or Myvi 1.3 to Saga Premium because they are close in prices.
The engine was enough power to push bigger chassis like the persona. While the new saga here is to beat the perodua bezza. To challenge vios or city, proton could fit this igt engine into persona, workout a reliable torque converter cvt sell rm60kish.
the wheel arch gap is hideous.
