RENDERED: 2016 Proton Perdana looks handsome!

Perdana_front

We might have only gotten a sneak peek at the upcoming 2016 Proton Perdana – which will go on sale early next year – but we already have an idea of what the national carmaker’s flagship D-segment sedan will look like, thanks to rendering wizard Theophilus Chin.

If these renderings – which uses elements from the partial reveals at Alami Proton, as well as the first official teaser – are indeed representative of the final car, then the new Perdana will cut a handsome and aggressive figure indeed, and will not at all be reminiscent of the eighth-generation Honda Accord on which it’s based.

The sharp headlights feature “eyebrow” LED daytime running lights that flow into the Proton Wings grille, while the muscular lower bumper – with a silver “wing” running across the full-width air intake – adds a healthy dollop of sportiness to go with the sizeable front splitter.

Perdana_rear

As expected, the glasshouse extends further back than on the Accord – and the teardrop-shaped window line contrasts with the Accord’s BMW-esque kinked C-pillar – giving the new sedan an almost fastback-like roofline. At the rear sits L-shaped full-LED tail lights connected by a thick chrome bar, an integrated bootlid spoiler and exhaust exits that sit inside the rear bumper, together with the reflectors and number plate recess.

Theo also rendered the interior of the car – by contrast to the exterior, the cabin looks near-identical to the Accord, save for a large touchscreen in the centre. Do remember, however, that Proton chairman Tun Mahathir Mohamad has a “Accordana” limousine with, among others, a Jaguar-style rotary gear selector, an engine start button and an electronic parking brake – so it’s possible the final Perdana could include them.

Perdana_interior

It’s confirmed that the 2016 Perdana will be built at Proton’s Medium Volume Factory in Shah Alam, alongside the Exora MPV (the current government-use version is assembled at Honda Malaysia’s plant in Melaka).

Engine wise, it’s set to retain Honda’s 154 hp/189 Nm R20A3 2.0 and 177 hp/222 Nm K24Z2 2.4 litre i-VTEC engines – for now, at least. Both engines will be mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. We can’t wait to finally see this car in the flesh! What do you think about these renderings?

Good job. Now only I would consider this accord based Proton. Proton still best rebadging cars… other stupid nonsense like 100% home breed Persona/Iriz/Preve/Suprima S are all junk. Some (especially SS) are even worse, 2014 cars park at warehouse not yet sold, second hand price already drop below RM10k. Malaysian rather buy the tiny expensive Mini.
Now let’s how Proton going to price the Accordana.

Like or Dislike: Thumb up 4 Thumb down 97
          • Estimated Price on Oct 12, 2015 at 4:26 pm

            Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 RM124k, rebadged Lancer(Inspira) RM92k = RM32k difference.
            8th Gen Accord 2.0 RM142k/ 2.4 RM172k, so based on Inspira’s reduction estimated 2016 Proton Perdana 2.0 price is RM110k(RM142k – RM32k) Proton Perdana 2.4 is RM140k(RM 172k – RM32k)

    exterior is Splendid, good job.
however, Interior… if that is the case, then they should updates the ICE of this 2008 year Honda.

Make it dual screen Radio/GPS like 9th Honda, updates the Meter cluster to more up to dates.

Problem with 8th Gen Honda Accord:

    1. Poor NVH which to be blame for its car platform. Honda can’t improve it further until the end. The 8th gen facelift comes with thicker carpet just to improve the car insulation, not sure a very cheapskate Honda, but it improve a bit.

not sure how Proton tackle those NVH in the Perdana Accord

Now really depends on the price. Proton has to strike between RM95-130K.

    Beautiful external rendering Theophilus!
The inside not so. You just changed the steering badge.
Not a bad idea for Proton to base the Perdana on 8th Gen Accord. That one is still the biggest Accord so far.
The little plastic triangular piece to fit the original rear side window glass to the rear quarterlight could have been better resolved.
Please tell me Proton got Lotus to tweak the Honda suspension.
It will probably be the best value car to take advantage of the corporate income tax motorcar capital allowance.

  • Proton 15% TIV in 2015 on Oct 12, 2015 at 1:26 pm

Another game (no) changer… yawn. Proton can promise bulan and matahari, but in the end, sales chart speaks the truth. Once this car is launched, prepare to go to the showroom and find uneven gaps, poor finishing and lousy quality parts in the cabin. Then, it will accompanied by a massive media hype, praised by all ball-licking test drivers and car media. In the end, many people talk about it, more people discuss about it, but nobody wants to buy. Sales still lost to Perodua. Proton TIV figure in 2013: 20% 2014: 17% 2015: 15% (almost there) No matter how many new models Proton launch, sales is dropping at an average of 2% TIV every year. Any ideas? Proton Fanboys? Truth is hard to swallow isn’t it?

Put your money where your mouth is Proton supporters.

I’m taking a RM 100 stake that by 2017, Proton will undergo bankruptcy and restructuring with massive lay-offs.

Anyone can place the bet, by 31 Dec 2017 if this doesn’t happen, I will pay each person who bet the RM100.
If the bankruptcy occurs, each person pay me RM 100.

Nice but I would say simple is better. Proton(designer) should inspired by Zenovation. Zen concept which still implement the sport element(as proton signature). Proton should try ‘Elegant Sport Simplicity’.

Cadang saya kalau ada yang berminat nak tunjuk kehebatan buat kereta cuba2 lah hubungi CEO Proton dan bagi pendapat macam mana sepatutnya cara buat kereta tuh.

Look a like Renault Fluence with different frontal and rear motives.

Have tested the fluence, performance is very good with 5 years free maintenance. Only drawback is heavier at the back cusing slower but still powerful pickup. power train cvt from nissan is powerfull.

Got Manual driver version? Hard to get in Malaysia. Idiots importers don’t want to bring in. Seems like conspiracy to squeeze Malaysian for more money repairing gearbox or buying new car every 4 years….
