  • EVx 2024: Chery Omoda E5 with Autocharge by EV Connection, exclusive offers at SCCC this weekend

EVx 2024: Chery Omoda E5 with Autocharge by EV Connection, exclusive offers at SCCC this weekend

The paultan.org Electric Vehicle Expo (EVx) is ongoing this weekend at the Setia City Convention Centre in Setia Alam, Selangor, and this is the premier showcase for all this related to electric vehicles in Malaysia.

Joining the roster of automaker brands at EVx 2024 is Chery, which has the Omoda E5 EV on show at the brand’s booth. More than just a battery-electric version of the popular, petrol-powered Omoda 5 SUV, the E5 is unique among EVs in Malaysia in offering AutoCharge, that does away with having to use an app, card or smartphone to recharge at public charging points – just plug in.

Resulting from collaboration between Chery and JomCharge charging points operator EV Connection, the Omoda E5 is the first EV in Malaysia to support this function. A one-time activation is all that is required, and there are over 200 DC fast charging points which support this function.

Energy in the Omoda E5 is stored in a 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit that’s good for 430 km of range on the WLTP cycle, powering a front-mounted drive motor that outputs 204 PS and 340 Nm of torque, propelling the SUV from 0-100 km/h in 7.2 seconds, and to a top speed of 172 km/h.

The Omoda E5 takes up to 9.9 kW of AC charging, and up to 80 kW of DC fast charging, which can replenish its battery from 30-80% in 28 minutes. With its 3.3 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, the Omoda E5 can also serve as a mobile power source.

For driver assistance systems, the Omoda E5 gets a 360-degree camera, automatic high beam, lead vehicle departure alert, adaptive cruise control, front collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and prevention, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Chery has exclusive offers for the Omoda E5 EV at EVx 2024, so head on over to the premier electric vehicle expo to find out more. Additionally, make a booking on a new vehicle at the event and you’ll receive RM1,500 worth of vouchers. EVx 2024 is ongoing this weekend at the Setia City Convention Centre, July 20 and 21 from 9am to 7pm.

EVx 2024: BYD Seal, Dolphin and latest Atto 3 – come check out the trio at the premier EV showcase at SCCC

The paultan.org Electric Vehicle Expo (EVx) 2024, which runs from today until tomorrow (July 20-21) at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC), is serving up plenty of EV-related fare, with one of these being a trio of models from BYD.

Taking centre stage at the BYD booth is the Seal, which was introduced here in February this year. The sleek four-door coupe-styled sedan is available in two variant forms, the first being the rear-wheel drive Premium, which features a single-motor offering 308 hp (313 PS or 230 kW) and 360 Nm. A 82.5 kWh LFP Blade battery provides the car with up to 570 km of WLTP-rated range (650 km on NEDC).

The other Seal variant is the all-wheel drive Performance AWD, which features a dual-motor powertrain consisting of a 215 hp/310 Nm front motor and a 308 hp/360 Nm rear unit, offering a total output of 523 hp (530 PS or 390 kW) and 670 Nm. The same 82.5 kWh battery is employed for the Performance AWD, and so its maximum range is shorter at 520 km.

The second display vehicle is the Dolphin, an ideal runabout for the urban environment. Two versions of the electric hatchback are available here, a Dynamic Standard Range equipped with a 44.92 kWh battery offering up to 340 km of WLTP-rated travel range, and a Premium Extended Range, which gets a larger capacity 60.48 kWh unit that provides up to 427 km of travel (WLTP).

Both variants are equipped with a single electric motor, with different outputs. The Dynamic Standard Range has 95 PS (94 hp or 70 kW) and 180 Nm, while the unit on the Premium Extended Range puts out 204 PS (201 hp or 150 kW) and 310 Nm of torque. The Dolphin is also jam-packed with features such as a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera system and standard Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capabilities.

The trio of displays is completed by the Atto 3, which is equipped with a front-mounted electric motor rated at 204 PS (201 hp or 150 kW) and 310 Nm of torque. Juice for the unit is provided by a Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that is good for up to 345 km of WLTP-rated range.

  • EVx 2024: Explore RHB’s range of attractive EV, PHEV financing packages, including variable rate financing

EVx 2024: Explore RHB’s range of attractive EV, PHEV financing packages, including variable rate financing

The paultan.org Electric Vehicle Expo (EVx) 2024, which runs from today until tomorrow (July 20-21) at the Setia City Convention Centre (SCCC), covers all areas of the electromobility topic, showcasing not just vehicles and charging solutions but also aspects of financing.

At the event, RHB is offering EV buyers a complete financing solution by not just offering competitive fixed rates as low as 2.00% p.a. but also a variable rate financing scheme called RHB Vehicle Financing-i, which offers low initial rates with a range of benefits.

A variable financing package will appeal to some car buyers because the profit charges – commonly known as interest payable – is calculated based on the daily rest and reducing balance method, which is similar to current home loan financing.

This benefits the car buyer if they have extra funds available, or they plan to repay their financing ahead of ahead of schedule, even one day earlier, as the extra payments made will reduce the principal amount, thus reducing profit charges to their financing. As fixed rate financing is common for car loans, many might not be aware that variable rate will offer you such flexibility and full control on the total profits chargeable by RHB towards new EVs.

Find out more about the various financing options RHB can offer you as an EV purchaser at EVx 2024. You’ll also be able to check out EVs from a wide range of brands and test drive them as well, and if you purchase a car at the show, you’ll receive RM1,500 worth of vouchers. EVx 2024 is taking place at the Setia City Convention Centre across this weekend, from 9am to 7pm. Admission is free.

Co-sponsored by Carro, Gentari, RHB and JuiceUP, EVx is the place to be to learn about all things EV in Malaysia.

As a strong supporter of sustainability, RHB encourages the adoption of sustainably-powered vehicles through a complete financing solution by not just offering competitive fixed rates as low as 2.00% p.a. , as RHB also offers RHB Vehicle Financing-i, which is a variable rate financing scheme that offers low initial rates with a range of benefits which car buyers may find appealing.

Among these is the variable financing package, which is uniquely appealing to some car buyers because the profit charges – commonly known as interest payable – is calculated based on the daily rest and reducing balance method, which is similar to current home loan financing.

At present, the current calculation method for Fixed Rate is the “Rule of 78” where a larger portion of the monthly repayment goes towards interest rather than reducing the principal balance. The CCOB Task Force proposes amending the Hire Purchase Act 1967 to prohibit the use of the Rule of 78 for interest calculation and to adopt the reducing balance method instead, which is what RHB Vehicle Financing-i is already offering its customers.

A full range of EVs will be available for EVx 2024 visitors to browse, from Mercedes-Benz, BMW, MINI, smart, Kia, BYD, Chery, Lotus Cars and MG, with exclusive new car previews and test drives of various models in store. Kineta and Trapo will also be present at the event.

New to the world of electric vehicles? EVx 2024 is a great place to have your vehicle charging and infrastructure questions answered, as stakeholders such as EV charge point operators (CPOs) and related agencies will be ready to field any queries you might have. From now until December 31, 2024, any successful financing of an EV or PHEV from RHB will enjoy complimentary charging credit worth RM210, so make sure you don’t miss out!

There’s more – place a booking on a new car at EVx and you’ll receive RM1,500 worth of vouchers – a RM500 voucher for auto window film (V-Kool), RM500 voucher for car mats (DodoMat) and a RM500 voucher for personalised and customised leather seats (DK Schweizer). Better hurry, as these vouchers will only be given out during EVx on July 20 and 21 and are limited to the first 100 new EV bookings.

EVx 2024 is set to take place at the Setia City Convention Centre on July 20-21, and admission is free. See you there!
