There’s a new over-the-air (OTA) update for the Proton X70‘s head unit, this time addressing a few issues that some owners may have been experiencing recently. The new 2.4.0 version lists 10 updates, of which are shown exactly as the picture above.
Notable upgrades include the removal of the “Locate Me” voice control function, wifi bandwidth channel adjustments (should make wifi connections more stable after updating), and improved air-con flow to the front seats. The GPS navigation has also been updated, now featuring “Home” address setting, improved 4G signal accuracy, and the addition of Point of Interest (POI) list.
Thankfully, the update also takes away voice reporting when switching between drive modes (someone’s been watching Driven Web Series!). Version 2.4.0 is available for update with immediate effect – do note that the file size is quite substantial at 786 MB, although the good news is it won’t eat into your data quota.
Also, as part of its Hari Raya promo, Proton is offering 50% extra internet data for owners who top up from now till July 5. However, do note that this only applies to cars fitted with the latest touchscreen head unit, namely the Proton X70 range, the Persona Premium, Iriz Premium and newly-launched Exora Premium.
After OTA Update paultan article about BMW, there are also talking about OTA Update paultan article about Proton
I agree Asam, the better game changing strategy to improve Proton sales is to send OTA updates that will improve headunit. This way, Proton can gain more trust from customers and automatically sales will improve.
Proton way more efficient now.
What a load of BS! :D
Perodua sales decreasing must be the reason why our resident “Game Over” Roti troll are posting a lot with different names bad mouthing Proton
Another “my friends” story..enuff laa..back to work..buang masa fabricating story for what?
its under warranty la.. if it breaks down, proton will replace it for free. stop spreading fake news please.
It’s amazing what kind of BS and lies a desperate person would resort to. You are the proof of that, Raja Jamban.
No, the biggest question is how do you know the update will slow down the headunit?
I dont believe.
Long gone are the days when products are extensively tested before release to the public
its an update.. your smart phone, or computer..etc. goes through the same. there is no problem with the product, updates are to improve based on customer feedback. in the end, the goal is to have a better product without having to change hardware.
You mean all smartphone? All Windows? Or Mac OS? Keep your stupidity to yourself!
errr, never get updated before? even windows xp has it, unless u turn the update off or using low tier smartphone, or super budget smartphone, clone n etc, wont get any update.
where do you live? maybe no internet connection in ur area.
Oh sure. Go back to using an abacus as ur calculator and an analogue phone then.
Is GKUI based on aliOS ?
Stupid comment.
where did you get this BS from? You pathethic inbreds sure are funny at times. hah
Nice update. But does it resolve the blind spot monitoring OFF by default? Correct me if I am wrong.
Please make it ON by default, pointless for drivers keep on ON ON ON everytime go on car.
This was fixed in the previous OTA update in January: https://paultan.org/2019/01/22/proton-x70-receives-ota-update-for-gkui-infotainment/
Thanks Hafriz.
Wonder why is my SA here still saying yet to receive update? *face palm*
“(someone’s been watching Driven Web Series!)” Not just watching the series but all ur feedback and constructive criticism have been well taken and improvements have been made all the time. Deswai u can see their cars like Iriz gets better and better from the 1st iteration until now.
Iriz gets better n better. Esp tt campro n cvt.
After reading alot about the GKUI system & how it affects the car, I’ve decided not to purchase a Proton for now. Simply because I prefer an open android multimedia system that I’ve been enjoying in all my cars for all these years. Also, the system is independant of the car’s function although i can still monitor the engine performances & parameters through car engine monitoring apps & BT obd2 dongle directly at the multimedia unit. I’m not keen on the voice feature either as most X70 owners resort to manual push button function for day to day use simply because its faster & less of a hassle of ensuring the voice recognition.
Is sent batch by batch. Have yet to receive mine.
After update GKUI to v1.2 cannot connect to internet data
