  • 2025 Ducati Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition – limited edition of only 555 units worldwide

2025 Ducati Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition – limited edition of only 555 units worldwide

Possibly the last hurrah for the Superquadro V2 in the form of the Ducati Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition that is set for market release in October 2024 as a 2025 model. To be produced in a limited run of only 555 units worldwide, the Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition is a tribute to the Superquadro family of engines.

First seen in the 2011 Ducati Panigale 1199 superbike, the Superquadro engine is a 90-degree V-twin with DOHC and four-valves per cylinder. Setting the Superquadro engine apart from the then ubiquitous Desmoquattro V-twin in Ducati’s sportsbike lineup was the use of gear- and chain-driven double overhead camshafts, as opposed to timing belts.

2025 Ducati Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition – limited edition of only 555 units worldwide

Using gear and chain combination provided precise articulation for the mechanical Desmodromic valve actuation system, compared to timing belts which were prone to failure and required intensive replacement intervals. The Superquadro name derives from the extreme over-square – quadro being Italian for ‘square’ – ratio between cylinder bore and stroke, at its zenith displacing 1,285 cc with a bore of 116 mm and a short stroke of 60.8 mm, producing a claimed 194 hp in the 1299 Panigale.

As to what might replace the Superquadro mill remains to be seen, and we suspect we will find out more when World Ducati Week 2024 happens in Misano from July 26 to 28 in Misano. Perhaps a two-cylinder version of the Stradale or Granturismo V-four engines?

For the Superquadro Final Edition, Centro Stile Ducati, it’s in-house design studio, and graphic design specialists Drudi Performance have teamed up to create the Superquadro Tribute livery for the Panigale V2. This comprises of the primary colour scheme of white, red, black and grey.

These follow the outline of the Panigale V2, while bold black graphics form the number “1” on the front cowl and fairing sides. The matte grey of the fuel tank contrasts with the colours on the fairing, complemented with the saddle embellished with embroidery of the Italian Tricolore and embossed with Superquadro Final Edition graphics.

2025 Ducati Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition – limited edition of only 555 units worldwide

The Superquadro V-twin in this final iteration produces 155 hp at 10,750 rpm and 104 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm from 955 cc. The head, clutch and oil pan covers are made of magnesium, while the Vacural casting crankcases come with aluminium pressed-in cylinder liners with NikaSil coating the bore.

Final Edition specific items include a billet aluminium triple clamp with edition number and model specific dashboard animation at start up. Carbon-fibre components include the silencer end cap, front and rear mudguards, swingarm, chain guard, clutch cover, shock absorber protection.

2025 Ducati Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition – limited edition of only 555 units worldwide

The tank cap and adjustable Rizoma footpegs are also machined from solid aluminium. For those wanting to put the Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition on the circuit, a racing kit consisting of licence plate and mirror delete, while a GPS module for DDA data acquisition is standard.

Denoting the sporting intentions of the Panigale V2, a lithium-ion battery is fitted as standard equipment. Ohlins supplies the fully-adjustable front and rear suspension and the steering damper.

  • 2025 BMW Motorrad R 1300 GS Adventure – Basic, Triple Black, GS Trophy and Option 719 Karakorum

2025 BMW Motorrad R 1300 GS Adventure – Basic, Triple Black, GS Trophy and Option 719 Karakorum

Recently revealed, the 2025 BMW Motorrad R 1300 GS Adventure (GSA) was much anticipated by the overland riders and Starbucks cowboys. With the all new 1,300 cc boxer-twin engine putting out 145 hp and 149 Nm of torque first shown in the R 1300 GS, riders worldwide, including Malaysia, were waiting to see what the boys in Munich were going to put out to replace the R 1250 GSA.

Well, here it is and this is what we get, the big GSA with oversized 30-litre fuel tank and all new bodywork coming in four variants. What is apparent is the R 1300 GS bears little to no resemblance to what came before, and this includes its R 1300 GS stablemate.

The frame is now made from sheet metal steel, foregoing the previous trellis. BMW Motorrad says this gives the R 1300 GSA more stiffness than before, while the rear subframe is an aluminium lattice tube with forged parts.

2025 BMW Motorrad R 1300 GS Adventure – Basic, Triple Black, GS Trophy and Option 719 Karakorum

2025 BMW Motorrad R 1300 GS Adventure Basic

In true GSA fashion, the 30-litre fuel tank is prominent, with its sheet aluminium construction left mostly uncovered. BMW Motorrad’s engineers also functions as a luggage carrier with three mounting points for the 12-litre tank bag, whilst giving access to the fuel filler and smartphone charging compartment.

The large windshield, supplemented by two large transparent wind deflectors, shields the rider from the wind and is aerodynamically shaped to provide a quiet and comfortable ride. More weather protection is afforded by the hand guards, which double as mounting points for the front turn signals.

Aside from all the riding aids and electronic wizardry, which you can read more about here, the R 1300 GSA also increases rider comfort and bike controllability with adaptive vehicle height control. Unfortunately for shorter riders or those with short inseams, adaptive vehicle height control comfort that automatically lowers the GSA’s suspension at stops and low speed is an extra cost option.

2025 BMW Motorrad R 1300 GS Adventure Triple Black

In its Basic form, the R 1300 GSA comes in Racing Red complemented by the fuel tank with its unpainted aluminium finish. This is contrasted with seats clad in red and black, black handlebars, black rims and red hand protector extensions.

The R 1300 GSA Triple Black, as its name suggests, comes in shades of black with the aluminium fuel tank finished in tinted clear coat. The standard engine crash bars are finished in black with silver inserts while black handlebars and wheel rims are combined with grey hand protector extensions, large aluminium radiator cowls and black/grey seats.

2025 BMW Motorrad R 1300 GS Adventure revealed

Making its appearance in the uber high-end adventure touring motorcycle market is the 2024 BMW Motorrad R 1300 GS Adventure. Stablemate to the R 1300 GS (from RM140,000 in Malaysia), R 1300 GS Adventure bears little family resemblance to its smaller sibling, ostensibly creating a BMW Motorrad family line all its own.

Compared to the previous R 1250 GS Adventure, the R 1300 GS Adventure comes with completely new frame, bodywork, design and storage concept. BMW Motorrad will offer four model variants of the R 1300 GS Adventure – Basic, Triple Black, GS Trophy and Option 719 Karakorum.

As pre the R 1300 GS, the R 1300 GS Adventure comes with BMW Motorrad’s all-new R-series boxer-twin engine, displacing 1,300 cc. The new boxer mill is smaller than its 1250 predecessor, with the gearbox located under the engine and a new cam drive arrangement.

BMW Motorrad claims power output to be 145 hp at 7,750 rpm with a maximum torque of 149 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The new six-speed gearbox powers the drive shaft as is traditional for the GS bikes, with Automated Shift Assistant (ASA) available as an extra-cost option.

ASA automates clutch and gear shift operation on the R 1300 GS Adventure, somewhat similar to Yamaha’s Y-AMT servo operated clutch and gear shift and Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). As can be expected, a full suite of electronic riding aids comes as standard equipment.

There are four riding modes, starting with “Enduro” for off-road riding. “Rain” and “Road” riding modes are self explanatory with “Eco” mode gives the maximum range from the fuel tank. Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) with braking function and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) also comes as standard.

Additionally, Driving Modes Pro with additional riding modes is available as optional equipment. Included in the riding aids are Engine drag torque control (MSR), Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) and Hill Start Control (HSC).

Ticking the box for the optional “Riding Assistant” gives Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Change Warning and the new Rear End Collision Warning (RECW). The RECW system signals an impending rear end collision to following traffic by flashing the hazard warning lights with a higher frequency.

A similar level of electronic sophistication is applied to the suspension, dubbed Dynamic Suspension Adjustment (DSA), available as an option. This gives the R 1300 GS automatic adjustment of the damping and spring rate, and also load compensation.

This causes front and rear damping to include a corresponding adjustment of the spring rate (“spring stiffness”) – depending on the selected riding mode, riding conditions and manoeuvres. Adaptive vehicle height control is also optional, giving fully automatic adjustment of the vehicle height to suit the operating conditions, lowering the R 1300 GS by 30 mm when stationary and at low speeds.

There is also adaptive vehicle height control comfort with all the features and functions of adaptive vehicle height control but is a further 20 mm lower. This makes it suitable for for smaller riders, or for easy accessibility and even easier handling.

Fuel is carried in a 30-litre aluminium tank, compared to the 21-litre tank of the R 1300 GS. The tank also functions as a luggage carrier with fastening elements featuring snap locks for the optional 12-liter tank bag on the upper tank panelling for easy and simple refuelling as well as quick access to the smartphone charging compartment.

Full LED lighting is used throughout, including the new design matrix headlights first seen on the R 1300 GS and front turn signals incorporated into the standard equipment hand guards while rear turn signals are integrated into the tail light. Two extra-flat auxiliary LED set lights are included in the lighting package while Headlight Pro with adaptive headlight (cornering lights) are optional.

Rolling gear is done with a 19-inch spoked wheel in front wearing a 120/70 tyre while the rear gets a 17-inch hoop shod with 170/60 rubber. Expect to see a 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheel R 1300 GS “Rally” version in the near future.

Standard seat height on the R 1300 GS is 870 mm with a wet weight of 269 kg fully-fuelled. Riding conveniences include a charging compartment with integrated USB socket and 12 V on-board power socket as well as keyless ride and heated grips while heated seats are an extra cost option.

Bajaj set to launch petrol-CNG hybrid motorcycle
Teasers from the Bajaj Auto website show a new hybrid motorcycle set to launch today. Set to be the first production motorcycle powered by petrol and compressed natural gas (CNG), the new two-wheeler hybrid will likely be to most fuel efficient motorcycle in the world.

From teaser photos, the new bike, dubbed the “Freedom 125”, comes with the ability to switch between fuels using a switch on the handlebar. It is assumed the 125 is in reference to the engine capacity and the bike will be targetted to the budget conscious end of the Indian motorcycle market.

Awaiting the launch, information received indicates the Freedom 125 will be a naked sports bike. A single round headlight keeps the design simple, along with a full-length seat. Expect power output to be around 10 hp when running on petrol, dropping slightly when the engine is switched to LNG.
